I heard many stories of JJ Arms from my mother. She attended school with him and knew him personally. My mother was actually there the day Mr Arms lost his hands. She said they were walking home from school I believe along the railroad tracks. Even though I grew up in Southern California my parents would drive by the Arms Estate on North Loop in the mid 70´s while we were visiting El Paso. We would stand outside the gate in amazement looking at the huge home looking at all his fancy cars and trying to see the animals in hope we would see Mr Arms drive in or out of his Estate. RIP Mr Arms your truly a El Paso Icon

In May of 2021, I took my autograph book for Jay to sign. He signed it and wrote something very surprising which I won't share here out of respect for his privacy. Jay was a very special man. I hope he is included in El Paso's Historical Society's Hall of Fame some day soon. May he rest in peace.

The valet parking area at Elpaso airport early 70's. I worked there then and that is how I knew him. He would bring his car there while he flew out of Elpaso on business trips. "clean my car well and make it shine". I always did. Ironically my last name is Arms. Rest in peace J J.
