In memory of
The Duke of Dade
March 26, 2023
Jay was a friend I met on the radio WIOD S Florida on air personality back in the `80s. He was the 10-2 host taking the spot from the late, great Neil Roger´s when Neil moved to FM. Jay held a Christmas Karioke night in Ft Lauderdale and invited the audience to come up on stage and sing. I wrote a promo for Jay´s on air show on a napkin, got up on stage sang it and Jay taped it. He played it as his opening for months. What a proud moment to share with my long time "on-air" friend, the gentleman he was. I called in daily to his show with my moniker "The Duke of Dade". Great memories always my brother. RIP !!

I never met Jay personally but via email when he assisted me in promoting a fundraiser for my sister's medical expenses. We became fast friends. In fact many people in the Bahamas did not know that I never met him because he spoke about me on air at Love 97 as though we were longtime friends. I guess he was that kind of guy; helpful and friendly. I tuned in to all of his show/programmes on Love 97. The last email I sent to him was on Mayy 22nd 2022 and he was so positive that he would beat the cancer and be back on the airwaves in the Bahamas. I was so positive myself.
I along with the rest of his fans in the Bahamas will miss him and especially his "Summer of Love" programme and the Birthday Club.
I extend my sincerest condolences to his wife and the rest of his family. RIP Jay "the Mayor of The Bahamas. "Much Love"!.

Jay was married to my best friend who has been my friend for most of my life I only got to meet him a couple times when I visited on vacation but he was always kind and thoughtful. I will never forget when I went to Vegas to see them knowing that I loved Elvis he had Elvis music playing on the radio in the vehicle and got tickets to an Elvis impersonation show. I was hoping to spend time again with both of them. I am glad he is no longer in pain but he definitely be missed. Rest in peace Jay until we meet again. Until then he will always have a piece of my heart.

My heart aches, yet I felt his presence so strongly during the service, and as it ended. I am so grateful for that, and to have known such a kind, generous Spirit as Jay. From the moment I met him he was a gentleman, a gentle giant, impeccably dressed to the nines, with a superstar energy that was palpable as soon as he entered a room. He was supportive, and faithful in helping me grow as an artist. He would advise me on songs and venues in which to perform. Whenever, I needed advise, or a mentor, he was there. Some, years had gone by since we´d last spoken, many personal battles, taking care of my Grandmother, and just surviving, and you always think you have time to see and old friend and say, "I´ve missed you, I love you, I thank God for you." Jay, I miss you... I love you, and I will always thank God that I was blessed to have your influence, and presence in my life. My love, deepest sympathy and condolences to Ruby and the family.

I have been friends with Ruby for most of my life and know her well. I know Jay made her happy the years they were together. Unfortunately I only got to spend vacations with them together a couple times but felt I knew him well. Jay was always kind and thoughtful. I remember the last vacation in Las Vegas 2019 he made sure he had Elvis on the radio when they picked us up at the airport and we got to see a Elvis impersonator because he knew I loved Elvis. My son liked him a lot and was hoping to see him again. We both feel very sad but we know he´s not suffering anymore and will see him again someday. Jay will be missed. Love and prayers always to my best friend Ruby. I wish I could be at the memorial. Jay will forever be in my heart.
