JC Powell

JC Powell, 100, of Visalia passed away on August 31, 2023. He was born in Ashland, Alabama on August 27, 1923 to parents Harvey Monroe Powell and Lola Mae Farrah. He was the youngest of six children. JC was a proud veteran of WWII. Achieving the rank of Tech-Sergeant, he served as a high-speed radio operator in the 5th infantry regiment, 3rd Army, under the command of George S. Patton. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his heroic service. Upon discharge, JC pursued a long and successful career in law enforcement. Starting as a police officer with the city of Tulare, he ultimately retired from the Tulare County Probation Department as Assistant Chief. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, and traveling with his wife in their RV.

JC is survived by Dorothea, his dear wife of 53 years and six children: Michael, Teresa, Anthony, Joseph, John and Juliet, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. JC will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and strong Christian faith.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 6 in the clubhouse at Visalia Mobile Estates located at 2627 W. Midvalley starting at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to your preferred charity in the name of JC Powell would be greatly appreciated.
