Mr. Virgil "Bud" F. Halcomb , 78, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away, Monday June 14, 2010 at La Porte Hospital. He was born September 26, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Virgil F. Halcomb and Grace (Prow) Halcomb. Bud has lived in the LaPorte area, for fifty-three years, coming from Indianapolis, Indiana. Bud worked as a foreman for Kaiser Aluminum for twenty-six years, retiring in 1983. He was a US Veteran of the Airforce during the Korean War, serving for four years as a medic. Bud was a huge Notre Dame fan, and loved cars. He loved his precious Tiki dog. He had been a Little League baseball coach. Bud was well loved by all that knew him; he was a devoted family man. He was very detailed, faithful and loyal, with a great compassion for people. Bud looked forward to his grandchildren's future and looked forward to the times with his great-grandaughter. Special thanks to Mike Sitar and Tony Cummins for all their support and love. To know him was to love him. On January 31, 1960, in Muncie, IN, he married Dixie Lee (Rose) Halcomb who survives. He is also survived by his daughter - Lora Logan of La Porte, IN; son - Scott Halcomb of Ft. Wayne, IN; two grandchildren - Monte "TJ" Logan of Valparaiso, IN, Tyler B. Logan of La Porte, IN. and one great-grandchild - Aubrie Logan of La Porte, IN; brother - Charles "Bob" R. Halcomb of Fishers, IN; two half-sisters - Shela Decker of AZ, Karen Harris of Greenwood, IN., and one half-brother - Terry Scrivner of Greenwood, IN. and several nieces and nephews. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements are being handled by the Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Ave. LaPorte, Indiana. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 1:30 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses 1205 E. Jefferson Ave. LaPorte, Indiana.
