Jean Amburgey

Jean Ellen Amburgey (Bosick) was born to James and Madalyn (Tucker) Bosick on March 6th, 1924 in Colorado Springs, CO, and, while surrounded by family, passed peacefully into God’s Kingdom on November 6th, 2016.

Jean was the oldest of four siblings (Eleanor, Evelyn and Jim), who together moved from Colorado to Albuquerque New Mexico and then to Tustin California.

Throughout her life Jean had a heart for serving which lead her to be an operating room nurse. While on her way to work at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange, California, she passed by a local gas station where she met Ernest Amburgey. Jean and Ernest were married on July 5th 1947 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Santa Ana. Ernest and Jean started a family that grew to include four children, and as a family enjoyed summer camping trips to Doheny State Beach, an event that would grow over time to become an annual family gathering including multiple generations.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. After retiring from the medical field, Jean helped Ernest run Amburgey’s Garage, a successful business located on Rochester St. in Costa Mesa. She was very active in her church community at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, and was a Eucharistic minister while also an active member of her senior group.

She is survived by her daughter Jane (Craig), and three sons; Raymond, Keith (Marsha), and David; her three granddaughters Briana (David), Lisa (Devon) and Amanda; and two great granddaughters Madeline and Amelia.

Rosary will be held at 9:30am with funeral mass to follow at 10am at St. Joachims Catholic Church at 1964 Orange Ave. Costa Mesa, CA on Saturday November 12th.

In lieu of flowers Jean requested donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society. Checks payable to St. Jochiams Catholic Church, memo: St. Vincent de Paul.
