Jean BREZDEN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 11, 2015.
BREZDEN, Jean: Sep 26, 1931 - Aug 2, 2015 It is with deep sadness that we announce Jean Brezden passed away peacefully on August 2, 2015. Born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba the 4th of 5 children, Jean was orphaned at the tender age of 4. She was predeceased by her siblings Nick, Anne (aka Jerry) and Stella, and is survived by her younger brother Johnny. Jean married Alexander Brezden in 1952 and had 5 sons, Brian, Wayne, Calvin, Darren and Shane - all of whom were her favourites. They were the jewels of her life. Jean doted on her grandchildren and was proud of her three great grandchildren. She was very resilient, had a wonderful sense of humour, loved camping and the outdoors. She was an avid walker (infamously known as "Jean the Walker"). Over her years of walking she wore out hundreds of pairs of runners, and found over two thousand dollars (one bill at a time) on the side of the road. She also liked riding the bus, organizing expeditions with her neighbours. She volunteered at Brookhaven Care Center on the Westside for years. Jean kept her hands busy knitting, doing crossword puzzles and playing cards. Garage sales were another favorite. Jean kept her keen sense of humor throughout, often joking with strangers, friends, store clerks, nurses and family. Special thanks to the nurses & staff at both the Kelowna General Hospital (6 West) and the Central Okanagan Hospice House for the exceptional attention and loving care received. You are all amazing people and we appreciated every kind gesture. As per Jean`s wishes - no funeral service will be held. A celebration of Jean's life will take place in lower Mission Kelowna, August 8th 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. For more information please contact Shane Brezden at 250-762-9560.
