Jean-Charles Raby

RABY, Jean-Charles (JC) 1950 - 2009 Following a courageous battle, JC passed away peacefully in hospital on Saturday, October 3, 2009, surrounded by family, at the age of 59. Beloved husband of Susan (nee Johnston). Loving father of Catherine (Alexandre Martin) and Nicholas. Predeceased by his parents Emile and Aline Raby of Ferme-Neuve (Quebec). Brother of: Gilles (Nicole Benard), Francine (the late Victor Lavoie), Lorraine (Jean-Roch Boisvert), the late Andree, Jean-Robert (Francoise Duplessis), Marthe (Denis Bergeron), Georges-Paul and the late Raymond (Louise Mathieu). Son-in-law of Alexander Johnston (the late Rita Hickson). Brother-in-law of: David Johnston, Victoria Johnston, Karen Johnston (Norm Kenney), Kate Johnston (Chris Plunkett) and Jane Johnston (Rob Evans). Close friend of Audrey Lahay. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and his cherished dog, Charlie. JC will be remembered for his tremendous passion for life, his love for his family, his warmth and generosity, his high energy, his storytelling, his love of nature and outdoor activities, his infectious positive outlook and his social and community involvement. For many years, JC had been the Treasurer of the Club Richelieu Orleans. He recently received an award from the Fondation Richelieu International for his exceptional commitment and dedication. JC retired after a long career with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation to pursue his passion for financial planning with Investors Group. The family wishes to extend its deepest thanks to the staff of the Ottawa Hospital for all their care and kindness over the past 5 years. Relatives and friends will be received at Heritage Funeral Home, 2871 St. Joseph Blvd., Orleans, on Wednesday, October 14 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., and on Thursday, October 15 from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at Eglise St. Joseph, 2757 St. Joseph Blvd., Orleans, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation - 20-20 Campaign, 737 Parkdale Ave, Ottawa, ON, K1Y 1J8.
