Jean Day

Jean Anne Day, 84, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, just three days shy of her 85th birthday. Born on July 17, 1940, in Fort Wayne, she remained a lifelong resident of the city she called home.

Jean dedicated her professional life to caring for others and retired from Parkview Hospice after years of compassionate service. Her work reflected her deep commitment to supporting individuals and families during some of life's most challenging moments.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Jean is lovingly remembered by her sons: Brian (Jayne), David of Fort Wayne, and Jeff of Collinsville, Illinois. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Stephanie (Chad), Angela (Kevin), Adam (Jessica), Taylor (Jennifer), Lauren (Matt), Ashlei (George), Shelby (Brandon), Jessica, Onika, and Scarlet; as well as seven great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years and her beloved dog, Boots.

Jean also leaves behind her siblings Rita (Tom) Douglas and John (Barb) McCoy, along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and F. Louise McCoy, and her brother Neil (Linda) McCoy.

In addition to her family and career, Jean found joy in simple pleasures. She loved playing cards with friends and family, creating intricate diamond art pieces, cooking hearty meals, baking sweet treats, and watching for cardinals-birds she especially adored. Her hobbies were a reflection of the warmth and creativity she brought into every aspect of her life.

Jean was also a proud member of the Eastern Star, where she found fellowship and purpose among like-minded individuals committed to community service and personal growth.

A Celebration of Life honoring Jean's life will be held at a later date in Fort Wayne.
