Jean Derickson

She was the best teacher I ever had and new, so sad but sweet I just know she's in Heaven

Truly a wonderful Lady. She prayed for her students and followed them as they did good things in the world. I remember my first day teaching she send me a flower arrangement. It meant so much to me!

My mother, Elsie Sparks, and I offer our deepest sympathy to all the family of Jean Derickson. She was a good neighbor to my mother for many years. I know she will be dearly missed.

I always loved seeing her smile and around in school! She was the best ever! I will miss you so much! You were the best Mrs. Granny Jean!!

She was a great substitute teacher and will truly be missed. She really loved to be around kids and was so great with them.

I always felt so welcome in the Derickson home as Carole and I played together as children and on into our school years as young women and high school graduates.
I think any of us neighborhood kids who came there to play hopscotch or to jump rope, to create and put on a dress-up play or to run around after dark playing night tag, or later just to be together listening to our portable radios and discussing the latest trends all felt the same way. She provided us a welcoming place just to be ourselves while growing into young adults.
I know she touched so many lives in her profession, church, and community, and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and extended community family. May sweet and special personal memories of her bring comfort to all.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy...

Jean taught me more in the first six weeks of teaching first grade than all the education classes I had just completed. I loved being with such a great teacher role model. Prayers for peace and comfort SS you celebrate her life.
