Jean DiFederico passed away May 12, 2024 at Sandhill Cove, Palm City, FL in her 100th year.

She was born January 27, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA to Anthony and Matilda Schooley, the eldest of three children. Her early years were spent in Pittsburgh and Canton, Ohio. During the war, she worked as a secretary at Goodyear Aerospace where she met Mario DiFederico, at the time a young engineer. They were married in Akron, Ohio on September 3, 1949 and raised their family there while Mario joined the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company where he spent his career until his retirement as President in 1979.

Their retirement years were spent together in Hobe Sound FL, where she continued as a parishioner at St. Christopher's Church.

Jean was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and a true friend, especially to her sister-in-law, Connie Percoco, and Lynn Schobert, both of whom she missed every day. She was a gifted cook and gracious hostess who loved entertaining the many friends and business associates that her husband brought to their home from all over the world.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2007 and her son, Anthony, in 2021.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Joyce (Timothy) of Bedford, NY, her daughter, Martha Friedman (Jay) of Hoschton, GA and her daughter-in-law, Mary McNally DiFederico of Stuart, FL.

She is also survived by her sister, Betty Tesmer and many nieces and nephews.

She leaves eight grandchildren, whom she adored: Timothy Joyce( Alanna), Thayer Joyce (Lee Scarborough), Sarah Joyce Pasqua (Gregory) and Charles Joyce (Carolina), Jason and Kimberly Friedman, Michael and Lauren DiFederico and seven great grandchildren, Charles, Thomas, and Michael Joyce, Emily and William Pasqua and Nicolas and Alexandra Joyce.

A Mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Christopher's Church in Hobe Sound on June 5, 2024 at 11AM.

Burial will be private in Akron.
