Jean Srout Evans, age 90 of Arlington, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Born on January 11, 1932 in the Flats area of Hardy County, WV, she was the first born of Samuel Leander Srout and Una Pauline Pratt Srout James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight siblings, her daughter-in-law Karen Evans, her first husband Maynard Sherman, and her second husband Harry Evans.
Jean graduated from Moorefield High School, and worked for Rocco Feed before moving to Baltimore, Maryland and then Arlington, Virginia. Jean worked as an Office Manager in medical offices and later for a non-profit before retiring.
She enjoyed dancing, flower arranging, NASCAR, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Jean especially enjoyed seeing the Daytona 500 in person and also was able to visit Hawaii, bucket list items for her.
Surviving are her children, Monty and Jeannette (Ken), her grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric), Melissa (Joe), Michelle (Matt) and Courtney (Andrew), and several great-grandchildren. Jean also shared a motherly relationship with Rudy M. Also surviving Jean are her siblings, Mona, Howard, Doyle, Linda (Ollie) and Janet (Joe) and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 18, 2022 at Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Dan Howard officiant. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow the service in Olivet Cemetery. Due to the current COVID-19 recommendations, wearing of masks and social distancing by individuals unvaccinated is recommended.
