The Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Jean Dura. Jean was very active in our ladies’ auxiliary and served as the secretary for several years. She often responded to fire calls on the canteen with other auxiliary members, to take drinks and food to the firefighters. She also enjoyed working at the various fund raisers and events that were held at our fire stations. Jean Dura had great energy, was always upbeat and a joy to work with. She was a wonderful friend who will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace.

How sad. Jean was the happy sunshine in the main office. I can't remember her ever being angry, and her smile was the best way to start my day. Sending my love and prayers your way. May God bless you and your family at this time.

It was my good fortune and pleasure to work with Jean Dura for my entire tenure at the Long Valley Middle School. She was my administrative assistant when I first started as a school administrator, and we worked together as a team for the next thirty years. Jean was a very intelligent, capable, and loyal individual who managed the main office with efficiency and good humor. Jean was a very caring person who had a heart of gold. You would see her generosity in quiet unassuming ways. You could see evidence of her love of children and her willingness to go beyond expectations when she volunteered to be a temporary safe host for an emergency DYFS placement. She provided her personal home for a young teenage girl, who for safety reasons, wasn’t allowed to leave school to go home. Always the professional, always a caretaker! Her life was a model for others to emulate. She will be missed!
