Jean Mote Obituary

Roberta Jean Mote passed away November 8, 2016 in Austin, Texas. She was born March 4, 1920 to Edgar and Myrtle Thomas Lacy, in Creston, Iowa, the fourth of four daughters. She graduated from Creston High School in 1938. In 1941, Jean came to Austin to attend the University of Texas and later married Richard Young. They adopted a son, Thomas A Young. Mr. Young passed away after 19 years of marriage. In 1967 Jean married Donald Nelson. They were married almost 30 years and were both members of the First Evangelical Free Church and took an active part in church activities. Donald passed away at the age of 88. In 1998 Jean married Russell Mote and they were married until his death in 2012. They were also both active members of the Free Church.

Jean loved to bake for events; also doing hand work for Compassion Ministries. Jean was employed by Sears for 15 years and later The Texas Department of Agriculture for 19 years. She was a member of the Austin Scandinavian Club for almost 35 years. She is survived by her son, Thomas A Young, step-son John D Nelson, 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Thomas Young.

A visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752 on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a service at 1:00 pm.
