It´s been almost 60 years since I last saw Jean-Pierre, shortly after he joined our 5th grade class at Colfax School in Pittsburgh. He crossed my memory today so I looked online and found this sad news. Even by age ten I think we knew he´d seen more of the world than the rest of us, and that he was only picking up speed. In particular, I remember his strong will and sense of mischief. Of course he towered above us all physically, but he quickly found his true role using his strength and confidence as a protector of the gentle and the meek. Reading his wonderful and loving obituary and these legacy notes I am only sorry to have not known him as an adult, such a fully lived life! -Richard Mott

He sat behind me in home room at Brookline High , Sept 1969. His spirit was such that he cycled thru about 14 high schools without graduating ! An incalçulable loss... Michael Peters

Juan, It's been years since you lived in Vermont. I often thought of you over the years. You were the greatest Bouncer back in the day. You were such a soft hearted man. I remember you and your heart and your dogs. Never knew anyone else like you. RIP

My condolences to all Juans' friends and family. I am sad to hear of his passing. We were close friends back in the mid 70's, living in the Brattleboro, VT area. What a Time! Rest in peace old friend.

JP came to mind recently as a close co-worker (from the 1987-1991 period) with a unique sense of humor, tireless energy and gentle patience. I went looking for him only yesterday by way of Facebook to reconnect, and was sorry to find him gone. But, it was enjoyable to look through the photos, comments and story of his life and memorial.

Such a kind, wonderful man. I first worked with him at the Shakespeare Festival back in the 80s. It was a delight to run into him again in the film world back in the 90s. He will definitely be missed.

I went to grad school with Jean-Pierre and was fortunate to have had the chance to direct a short play he wrote--"Nouvelle Cuisine"--for a class project. This was a big man--and I do not mean in stature (though he was so tall!). JP lived expansively and was always ready to take everyone along on his adventure. He was truly an educator as he loved to share his experiences. There is an unfillable hole in this world. I send love to all his family and friends and look forward to celebrating JP's life with you all.

JP welcomed me as a friend when arrived in Pittsburgh as an outsider in 1994.
He filled my Pittsburgh experiences to their fullest and now it is my home.
He will always be remembered and always be apart of our lives through our Pittsburgh Film and Stage Business folklore.
Godspeed my friend.

JP was a constant source of humor at work he always knew how to make you smile. Countless times he would tell me a joke and it would put me into stitches. My favorite memory of JP was actually from Valentines Day. My boyfriend and I visited Mexico Lindo and had a great time talking with him and Lisa. We left after about an hour and went to the car. While we were driving past, JP had snuck outside and bought a bouquet of flowers for Lisa. She was all smiles and you could see they were just radiating love. Thanks for all of the laughter and friendship JP, you will truly be missed.

We will miss any chance of meeting you again. Listening to your stories and wealth of information of Mexico which you shared so freely. We have only heard your laugh and seen your smile for a short time when you stayed with us and yet we feel like we have known you for such a long time.

It saddens us that we will miss seeing you and your larger than life presence ever again.

Sending love and condolences to Lisa and family.

Amor y abrazos
