Dear Matthew,
I am sincerely sorry to hear that Jean has passed on. I am comforted by the fact that she is now with the Lord where she feels no pain or frustration.
About 20 years ago, out of the blue, Jean called me after a Mott Middle College High School Steel Band performance to compliment me about how well the band sounded. It came at a time that I was working very hard and was in need of a kind word of recognition. It was the beginning of a long friendship.
Throughout the next two decades, we bonded through our love of watching kids grow and succeed. Jean was a remarkable advocate and supporter of the steel band programs at both Mott Middle College High School and more recently the Boys and Girls Club of Flint. But more than that, being friends with Jean was like having your own guardian angel. I sometimes would call Jean to touch base, and she would turn my down mood into joyous laughter that left a smile on my face. Her class, intelligence, and sense of humor made her a joy to talk to. She was a strong woman of principle and I never had to wonder what she was thinking. She new about many of the challenges I was facing and was always in my corner. I will miss her dearly.
Without a doubt, Jean has positively impacted many hundreds of children and young people through her kind and righteous heart. Through the ripple effect, she has permanently changed and saved lives. On behalf of the many kids that have gone on to become successful teachers, performers, and citizens of all walks of life, we are forever grateful to Jean Simi.

I knew Jean when she was a Key Volunteer for the Crim Festival of Races/Crim Fitness Foundation. I worked in the Crim office, and one of my responsibilities was working with the Crim volunteers. It was always a pleasure interacting with Jean, knowing that her particular volunteer job would be done efficiently and correctly. She was a lovely lady, and my sympathies go out to her family.

Matthew, I'm sorry to learn of your Mom's passing. Your Mom & my Mother (Frances Keck) were good friends and always enjoyed each others company. I believe that they will be having a happy reunion in Heaven. I have fond memories of visits and trips to Grand Blanch & Michigan International Speedway in the 70's with your Mom and Dad. She was always a very gracious host. Thru the years she kept in touch with the Keck family and has many friends in Newark. She was a very kind and generous person who I was lucky to know. You and your family are in my prayers.

Your Grandmother Catherine and our Mother were first cousins. Now your Mother has joined them, and our Brother Ben, in a New Life.
Although, we have not been able to stay in touch, the Keck Family will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

We are so sorry for your loss. Randy got to know Jean when Matt and he would go out wandering and end up at her doorstep to take her out to lunch. He would come home and talk about how much he enjoyed spending time talking to her. She was full of class, intelligence and humor and she will be truly missed. She was an extraordinary woman.

Jean has been a close friend since 1960. She has meant a lot to my family through the years as she attended family weddings, funerals, graduations, and holiday celebrations over the last 57 yrs. Not only did my family enjoy her sense of humor, her thoughtfulness, and her loyalty, she was also known by many of my personal friends who loved her as much as we all did. We will miss her wit and spontaneous willingness to have a good time, reminesce about old friends, and share our life experiences.
We share your grief Matthew, Nancy, Phillys and family and know even Boots is grieving the loss of this special person.
