Jean Stevens (Price)

Jean Stevens (Price), born on April 5, 1939, in Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, in Herald, California. Her life was a vibrant tapestry of love, resilience, and community spirit that touched all who knew her.

Raised in rural Sacramento, Jean embraced the values of hard work and neighborly kindness from an early age. In 1965, she moved to Penryn, California-a place that would become the heart of her world for nearly six decades. There, she raised her four children and became deeply woven into the fabric of the small-town community she cherished.

Jean was a proud and active member of the Penryn Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and served as a school bus driver for Penryn Elementary. Her dedication to service reflected her deep commitment to those around her. Whether behind the wheel of a school bus or organizing community events, Jean brought warmth and reliability to every role she undertook.

Her passions were as spirited as her personality. She loved riding her beloved horses through open country trails, camping under the stars, bowling with friends, playing bingo with enthusiasm, and spending time outdoors. Jean was truly "country to the core," known for her open heart and magnetic charm-if you met her once, you were a friend for life.

Family was at the center of Jean's world. She is survived by her children Cary (Terry) Gibson, Joann Bisnett, and David (Mary) Price; her brother Larry (Linda) Weeks; grandchildren Holly, TJ (Lindsey), Tyler, Jason (Candice), Alex, Tim, and Tom; great-grandchildren Teja, Emmy, Hannah, Jed, and Trever; great-great-grandchild Willow; and nieces Sharon, Susan, and Kelly. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Fred; son Tom; and brother Don.

Jean's strength shone brightest during her 15-year battle with cancer. Never one to let hardship dim her spirit, she created the persona "Happy Trails Yeanie," donning a country clown costume for each chemo treatment. With laughter as her medicine and joy as her mission, she entertained fellow patients, nurses, and visitors alike-spreading light even in the darkest moments.

In 2024, health concerns led Jean to leave Penryn-a difficult transition for someone so rooted in place-but part of her heart always remained there. Her final year was spent at Oakmont Assisted Living where she quickly became a beloved presence. She made new friends easily and embraced a lively social life filled with connection and care. Among those who held special places in her heart were Sue, Irlene and her boys, and Virginia.

Jean returned home to Herald to spend her final days surrounded by family-a fitting close to a life defined by love and togetherness. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew her.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Wednesday, November 12th at 2:00 p.m., at the Maidu Community Center, 1550 Maidu Drive, Roseville, CA 95661. Bring a story to share.
