BUTLER, Ala. — Services for Jean S. Sturdivant will be held today at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Butler. Burial will be in Butler City Cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Sturdivant, of Butler, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in Meridian, Miss. Her favorite scripture was from Psalm 46, "God is my refuge and strength, an ever present help in times of trouble." Survivors include her husband, Nelson Sturdivant Sr. of Butler, a daughter, Cindy Sparkman and her husband, Paul, of Coatopa, a son, Mark McIllwain and his wife, Connie, of Tuscumbia; a sister, Robin Smith and her husband, Ben, of Butler; a step-daughter, Celeste May of Pennington; step-sons, Nelson Sturdivant Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Livingston, Andy Sturdivant and his wife, Pam, of Thomasville and Jason Sturdivant and his wife, Charlene, of Chatom; grandchildren, Sparky Sparkman and his wife, Susan, Clint Sparkman, Mary Ellen and Joe McIllwain, all of Tuscumbia, Anna May of Birmingham, Kristen Sturdivant, Alex Sturdivant and Daniel Sturdivant, all of Livingston, Taylor Sturdivant and Tyler Sturdivant of Thomasville, Charlie Sturdivant and Jordan Sturdivant, both of Chatom; great-grandchildren, Tate Sparkman and Caroline Sparkman, both of Livingston and a niece, Nedra Kelly and her husband, Terry, and their family of Jachin. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Church, Music Department, P.O. Box 452, Butler, AL 36904.
