Dearest Jean- Arguably one of the most important women and role models in my life, please welcome my mother Sandy into the afterlife.
Both born and raised in Ohio, you both suffered the same type of massive stroke just 5 weeks apart in 2017, and now, your deaths have taken place just one year and 2 days apart from each other. Two incredibly beautiful souls, strong, active women who touched the hearts of thousands of people during your meaningful lifetimes.
I hope that you somehow meet up in the afterlife- two of the most influential women in my life on this earth, so connected through me in your illnesses, and now, your time of passing. Your and my Mom's end-of-life challenges taught me that nothing is guaranteed- you both had mothers that lived into their very old age (98 and 107, was it?), yet you both were taken much earlier than expected, given your mothers long lives.
The profound synchronicities have touched my soul, and I still need time to reflect on the lessons to be gleaned. You've taught me to live my life to the fullest, to not hesitate to get out and explore the beautiful world we inhabit. I love you and miss you, Jean, but I trust we will meet again. xoxo forever

No one can ever forget Jean... giving, loving, laughing - she never stopped reaching out to anyone who needed her help. Today I light a candle in your memory. Ray was always by her side supporting her every need. A very special man.

Another Dominican Magnolia who will always bloom in memory with her sparkle, that laugh, her taste, her generosity, and spirit. Thank you, Jean and Ray, for always being there.

I met Jean on the opening night of my restaurant. She came in and said, " tell me about yourself. I said my mother passed away few months ago and she immediately said, " now I´ll be your mother. That night she introduced me to all the city officials and locals attending the opening of Chinook. We were on several boards together including Downtown Arts and supported her fundraising for Homeward Bound. Mama Jean even waited tables when I was short handed. We were never short of adventures helping others, all ending in happy endings. She discussed things over a chocolate crème brûlée. Orange crème brûlée was acceptable too. When I sold my home in San Francisco, she asked me to stay with them and she and Ray traveled to Italy and studied Italian. Upon their return she and I,on a sleepless night talked into the wee hours of the night ending with 911 incident unfolding right before our eyes, early morning on tv. Mama Jean with her big and fearless heart, big blue eyes, lived a life of service for others with fun and joy. Recently I completed my eleven years of volunteering as a fire Lookout at Mt. Tam Lookout Tower, where Jean would show up with the grandkids and we settled for chocolate chip cookies and reminisced about the days of chocolate crème brûlée..

Quite the social advocate! Proud to have known Jean Taylor and serve with her on the Marin Family Service Agency Board for The Marin Suicide Prevention and Grief Therapy Program during an era of funding cuts and budget shortfalls. Still delivering care to those in need remained our top priority. BTW She made an amazing chocolate cake! My deepest sympathies to Ray and the Taylor family . Rest in Peace Jean . You will be dearly missed.
With Love and admiration,

I met Jean and Ray through my brother and his wife, Jim and Jeanette Berry. Jean and Ray were aways up beat and fun to be with. You knew you were always in for a treat when you were invited to their home of dinner. Jean volunteered to make my wedding cake. Of course it was beautiful, like Jean, and beyond delicious. Jean's life was a blessing to all of us!
