Jean Dorothy Tucker

TUCKER, JEAN DOROTHY 1924 to 2008 Longtime North County resident dies at 84 Jean Tucker passed away on Saturday, April 26th in Carlsbad from the effects of a broken hip and heart attack in March. Miss Tucker completed her early studies at the College of Liberal arts, University of Cincinnati, in 1946, and embarked on a long career in educational film production and general publications. From editing a mid-western newspaper and work on a New York magazine, Jean's wide range of interests and talents led her to California where she spent many years with Encyclopedia Britannica Films, and San Diego Community College publications and television. She later retired from the Blade Citizen Newspaper in Oceanside. Jean's love of learning and the arts was life-long. She was a gifted photographer, actress, avid reader and talented artist who never understood her own potential. She was a leader in establishing the Cardiff Friends of the Library and bringing the new library into reality. Jean is survived by a brother, Dr. Thomas Tucker of New Jersey, and a sister, Lois Tucker Herrick of Northern California, as well as many nieces and nephews. Graveside Services were held at El Camino Memorial Park Thursday, May 1st. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cardiff Friends of the Library, P.O. Box 657, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA 92007. Her many charities and lifelong generosity stand as a beacon for us all.
