Jean WILLIAMS Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen on Dec. 31, 2011.
WILLIAMS, Jean Marion (nee Kerr)
Peacefully on Thursday December 29, 2011 at age 88. She will be missed by her best friend and beloved husband, Gaynor (65 happy years of bliss); beloved children: Jennifer, Greg (Joan), Derek (Nicky); dear grandchildren: Naomi, Crystal, Tanya and Leah, and great-grandchildren: Rachel and Luke. Jean was a graduate of the School of Nursing, University of Toronto. She worked as a Public Health Nurse in Winnipeg, in Vancouver's Chinatown, and with the Utah State College Health Services. After raising her three children, she served with the Ottawa Regional Health Service and finished her career as the Discharge Planner at Queensway Carleton Hospital. During retirement, she served on the executive of the Ottawa Rock Garden Society. Jean loved tennis and as a teenager enjoyed playing in tournaments around her hometown of Neepawa. She also loved cross-country skiing and swimming, especially her many swims at Meech Lake. Jean had many happy reunions with old Neepawa and School of Nursing classmates. At her request, there will be no formal service or visitation except for a private family ceremony to lay her ashes to rest in the Kerr family plot, Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa, Manitoba. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Carleton Lodge for their dedication and good cheer.

Dear Gaynor, Jennifer, Derek and Greg,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Jean was a lovely person and a great friend to my mom and dad in Arvida and later in Ottawa. I remember her very fondly, and she will be very sadly missed.
