Jeanne Moore Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 14, 2024.
Jeanne Ellen Amarasinghe Moore, a former resident of Virginia Beach, passed away on June 6, 2024, in Riverside, California. She was surrounded by loved ones and will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

Jeanne was born on February 8, 1949, in Lorain County, Ohio, to her mother, Jeanne Elynore Moore. Her father, James Eugene Moore, tragically died before her birth. Jeanne excelled academically, earning a full scholarship to the LPN nursing program following her high school graduation. She pursued further education, obtaining her RN at DePaul Hospital School of Nursing in Norfolk, Virginia, and later her BSN at Old Dominion University. Throughout her fifty-year nursing career, Jeanne's commitment to providing quality care was exceptional. She began as a labor and delivery nurse and later served at several practices in the Tidewater, VA area, including Tidewater Children's Associates, Chesapeake Pediatrics, Nimmo Pediatrics, and Sentara.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jeanne found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader, loved music, her chihuahuas, and traveling the world to visit her children and grandchildren.

In her later years, Jeanne relocated to California to live with her son. Our family will be forever grateful for the support and kindness shown by our brother David and his partner Sarah these last several months.

Jeanne is survived by her daughters Chandra (Marcus) Oswald, Kariya Amarasinghe Canizaro, Juliya (Tad) Davis, Bonika (Libor) Vanc; son David (Sarah) Amarasinghe; grandchildren Caroline Davis, Jade Davis, Gino Canizaro, Anthony Canizaro, Marco Canizaro, Madeleine Oswald, Justin Oswald, Violeta Vanc Amarasinghe, Kimo Vanc Amarasinghe; and dog Sandy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Jeanne's memory to the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center.

A celebration of Jeanne's life will be held on September 5, 2024 in Virginia Beach.
