It is so hard to put into words all that I feel about Jeanne and how much I miss her. I can only say that our world is a smaller and sadder place without her. I was always so surprised and somehow thrilled to hear about her latest interest and activity. She never ceased to amaze me with her talent. As I watched her grow up, she became such an interesting person, and she was living the life she wanted to live without compromising her ideals, which I really admired. I am so grateful that I got to spend time with her in California at and after John's wedding. I will always treasure our time together. Jeanne was here on this earth for too short a time, but while we had her with us she was a blessing and a wonder. We won't ever forget her and her lovely spirit.

Jeanne~I will miss you forever and a day. I remember you always. Every "J" that I see, every owl I run across, every piece of your art remind me of how much you mean to me and so many others. Your time was cut short. Too short. I wish that I could have done something to help. I'm sorry I wasnt' there when you needed me most. That's what a mom is supposed to do~be there. I love the person you became. You moved to California and pursued your dreams. You accomplished your vision of being a writer, artist and ballerina! I'm proud of you and your many accomplishments. I think of you when I look at your art...wondering what message you were trying to convey. I would ask you what a painting meant and you would always smile and ask me what I thought it meant. I still wonder as I stare at your work and admire your talent. You made a difference in my life and I'm so glad I got to be your mom. Until we are together again, I love you honey. Mom

To everyone who signed this guest book: On behalf of myself and our familiies, thank each of you for sharing your kind words and memories of Jeanne with us. From the beginning Jeanne was very special, delightful, creative, talented and precious to us. It is so nice to see more of the lives Jeanne touched in this guest book, even from around the world. Our hearts are warmed by knowing that she was truly enjoying life and pursuing her dreams. And each of you enriched her life so very much. Jeanne left us suddenly and unexpectedly - and way too soon. We miss her terribly and it is such a very, very sad time. Thank you for your kindness and support. We will remember it always. Much love to you all.

Jeanne worked for me at iCopywriter as a freelance editor. She was thoughtful, insightful, and always willing to go above and beyond.
I was so saddened to hear of her passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family--you lost a wonderful person. I pray for strength and energy to get you through this time.

Jeanne was my publicist at Stone Bridge Press in Berkeley, and helped set up some recent readings for my new book as well as my husband Shogo's book in August. I had just met her at Stone Bridge Press's offices, and was delighted to finally get to meet the woman I had been exchanging emails with over the past 6 months about our books. It is rare to find a publicist who is as excited about a book as the author is herself, but Jeanne was that person--and more. She was extraordinarily enthusiastic, kind, diligent, smart, resourceful, creative and supportive. It was a great shock to us that she had passed away during our book tour, and we dedicated the readings she had helped set up to her. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Thank you Jeanne. You will live on in all your good deeds and in our hearts. The literary world has lost a bright light but it will never fade.

I am so sorry to hear about Jeanne through Chris Hajney. Lynn, I know the nights you spent up late with her and worries of her diabetes. She fought a long road, but it sounds like she was living her dream. The pain you must all be feeling at this time. Take with you the great memories she has left in your hearts. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you during these hard times. She is an angle above watching over all of you.

I'll write more in a personal letter to her parents about how important Jeanne was to us here at City Lights Publishers, but for now want to simply add to this testament to Jeanne's enormous spirit. Thirty years is too short a time for someone as valuable as Jeanne was, yet she achieved so much. I've never met such a consistently positive and grounded young woman. She was absolutely a pleasure to work with, and to know, and we're devastated at her loss.

I just learned of your loss from my nieces who live in Seattle friends of your daughter. She sounds as she fulfilled some of her dreams in having a full and active life as can be attested by the comments left here. I also lost a dear friend to this very crippling disease a few years ago. Both are now in heaven having crossed the Rainbow Bridge where there is no more paing and suffering, May she always be in your hearts and a cure for Diabetes come sometime in the future. I met Jeanne as a fellow student at SCSU. She immediately struck me as sensitive, intelligent and wise. Her art suggested all these traits even before knowing her. The sparkle in her eye and strong spirit confirmed what a wonderful and unique individual she was. And, although I am several decades older than her, age made no difference to her in embracing me as part of the crew. I'm so sad at her passing, but know that she will always be with me as a part of the richness of my life as I know she will to all who loved her and were graced to have known her. To her family: I hope the knowledge of her presence in so many lives helps to ease your burden at this time.

Jeanne was a great friend who worked in my department at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, where we met. She was an artist and an editor, great with both images and words, and I will miss hearing and seeing Jeanne's thoughts. When Jeanne moved to California to pursue a career in editing, I admired her determination and chutzpah for doing what she needed to do to move her life in her chosen direction. I'm glad she was making headway, particularly lately, and she seemed so excited about her new residence and her life in the Bay area. Even though she had relocated to California, Jeanne was somebody I never wanted to lose track of, let alone lose forever. She was one of the deepest and most sensitive people I've ever met, one of the smartest, and one of the most creative. I think she experienced 100 years of thoughts, emotions, and actions in her short 30 years of life, and I feel lucky to have known her for even a few of them. She will be forever missed. Goodbye, Jeanne. I love you!!

I was shocked to learn of Jeanne's passing. I volunteer at the MIA, and had worked with her. She was a kind and gentle spirit, with a beautiful smile. Her family must be very proud of her. Look at all the lives she has touched all over the world in her young life. What an amazing person!

As an author published by Stone Bridge Press, I was lucky to have worked with Jeanne during her sojourn there as both a publicist and an editor. We are so sorry for your loss. We will always remember how fun it was to hang out with Jeanne and will think of her whenever we see dinosaurs (especially albino dinos) and hedgehogs. We are so fortunate to have met Jeanne in St. Cloud and to have kept in touch while she lived in Minnesota. Halloween parties at Jeanne's were always the best.

Jeanne was part of a great group of students at St Cloud State and it was my pleasure to know her as her professor and later stay in touch as a friend. I last saw her in San Francisco- we went out to hear some music and had a great talk about her ambitions. Looking at images of Jeanne now I realize that in every picture of of her you can see her sense of humor in her expression. She initiated endless fun and was so engaged with the people around her. I know we have all been influenced by her and I will continue to be. She was such a creative person in every aspect of her life.

I met Jeanne when she was finishing her studies in Europe.
She spent that Christmas with our family. What a special Christmas that was... She gave us a gift. These are Minnesota Snow Flakes, she said, when we were decorating the tree. We traveled around Slovenia and Croatia in those days. How much she enjoyed every new view, every new place we visited, either in the Alps or at the Adriatic Sea. I still cannot believe she is gone... But every Christmas when I will decorate the tree she will be there with us.

Dear Steve,
You don't know me, but I had the pleasure of working with your daughter, Jeanne, a brilliant and talented young woman. She was my publicist at Stone Bridge Press. Jeanne was a delight, with a verve and artistic intelligence that was positive and electric. She was a dear, dear person, and I am so grateful to have had an opportunity to know and to work with her (We almost won the Bram Stoker award together for my novel, which she was publicizing).
I lost an infant daughter and, when I was a girl, I watched my parents unravel after the drowning of my thirteen-year-old brother, so I know how devastating this is. Time and experience have taught me that faith is a strength that moves us through the sorrow and the commitment to be stronger for the one we've lost.
A road I know we all must one day go,
But not so soon as yesterday, today.
—Lady Murasaki Shikubu, The Tale of Genji

I was so sorry to hear about this news. Jeanne was a student of mine one summer at SCSU in digital storytelling. While preparing for this semester's coursework this past week, I was remembering the excellent work Jeanne produced based on a Czech fairy tale. I plan on showing it as an inspiring reference for other students.
