Jeanne Corcoran Ruane died on November 30, 2022, in Tempe, Arizona after a long illness. Born in Scranton Pennsylvania on November 1, 1931, she was the daughter of Edward and Agnes Hean Corcoran. Her parents and five siblings predeceased her. She graduated from Central High School where she was a member of the girls’ chorus and the cheerleading squad where she served as captain in her senior year.
Jeanne devoted her whole life to her family and many friends. She was the loving wife of Francis P. Ruane who died in 2015 and the mother of three children: Christine (Joseph Bradley), Susan and Mark, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild who all survive her. Jeanne and her husband moved more than twenty-five times including multi-year stays in England and Japan. In retirement she and her husband continued to travel the world visiting six continents before they were done. Their last home was in Mesa, Arizona where they spent many happy years together.
Jeanne loved her role as homemaker and hostess. She was an excellent cook, drawing inspiration from the many dishes she sampled while traveling the world. Because of her travels, Jeanne avidly followed domestic and world affairs, and was well informed about what was happening around the globe. Jeanne was a spiritual person and a life-long member of the Catholic Church. Through her exposure to Catholic sacred music in childhood along with her natural talent, she became a passionate music lover and sang in many choirs and musicals throughout her life.
Jeanne’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Friendship Village Health Care Center and Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate care for her in her final months. Internment of her ashes will be at a later date at the Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Jeanne will be missed by her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
