Jeannette J. Sosa

Corpus Christi - It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jeannette Jones Sosa, 79, of Corpus Christi, Texas. On July 21, after a brief yet bravely fought battle with breast cancer, she left us, surrounded by her loving family, dear friends, and cherished German Shepherd rescue.

Jeannette was predeceased by her parents, Myrtle Jane and Robert, and her loving husband of 29 years, Arnold Sosa. She is survived by her family, Johnnie and DeDe DeMoss and beloved Baby Girl.

A compassionate spirit, Jeannette will be lovingly remembered as a friend of Bill's for 43 years and for her great kindness to stray cats. As an educator, she influenced the lives of many, first as a teacher in Taft, Texas, and later as a professor at Del Mar College, where she shared her love for art and early American literature. Jeannette's enthusiasm for literature extended beyond the classroom to her service on the board of trustees for the Corpus Christi Literary Reading Series.

Upon retirement, Jeannette channeled her passion into genealogical research, tracing her family's roots back to William Bradford and historic Plymouth, Massachusetts. This heartfelt project was a testament to her love for her family and their shared history.

As Jeannette was fond of saying, "What a woman!" Her absence will be profoundly felt, but her gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

The family thanks her caregivers for their dedication and excellent care. A celebration of Jeannette's life is being planned, and details will be shared in due time.
