Hi Alison and Andrew: I so emjoyed living next door to your parents. I consider that house and neighborhood my favorite place of anywhere I have lived. Watching my dog -- very young from puppyhood -- they would stand on their patio and watch her run up and down the back hill putting her mouth over each sprinkler head as it watered the hill/ I know she looked forward to her visits from her friend from Canada -- really very good neighbors and friends. And..don't forget they came to Florence Oregon -- actually surprised me -- I was shopping in Safeway and there they were ! And -- don't forget we bought their motorhome !!! My friends who live in Carlsbad knocked on her door last year -- said they were my friends and were looking at my (former) house -- and decided to say hi to her too. The current owners of my house let them see all they had done to it -- and suggested they meet Jeannie--and so they did. Here is a wonderful picture they took that day. Very sorry and I know this is a very difficult time for you and Andrew --Sincerely,
Judy and Nancy Ulrich

Dear Alison and Andrew,
You have my deepest sympathy on the passing of your mother. She was kind and gracious. I knew her through your father, Bob, as he was Erin Smith's brother.
I saw your father more frequently during my years of working at Del Mar. Here is a memory I have of your dad from the days when we worked so hard at Del Mar during summer racing seasons. I kept some small Tootsie Rolls on my desk in a bowl to snack on. Your father said that, while serving in Korea, Tootsie Rolls were a staple in his diet. He used to bring me refills when my supply was low.
Bob and Jeannie were impressive individuals. You were fortunate to have them as parents.
Thinking of you and sending condolences,
Julie Sarno
