Jeannine Frances Jungwirth of Kewaskum, Wisconsin died on May 7th, 2025 following a seven year battle against cancer. Jeannie lived a life of creativity: she loved crafting, art projects, making mementos for family, knitting, and designing handmade cards. She was patient, kind, and never one to harbor anger or jealousy. Jeannie's only competitiveness would come out while playing Scrabble with family (she was nearly impossible to beat).

Jeannie worked for 35 years as a public school educator and reading specialist after graduating from Marian University in 1970 with degrees in elementary education and art. She also obtained a Master's degree in education from the College of Saint Scholastica in Minnesota.

Jeannie was married to Reg Jungwirth for 56 years (together since 1967). She was the loving mother of two boys-- Jeb (45) and Josh (43). She was a grandmother to Adin (15), Max (12), and Leo (10). Jeannie was a beloved mother-in-law to Alissa Martin (Jeb) and Stephanie Jungwirth (Josh). She had four caring sisters- Mary, Kathleen, Joanie, and Suzie- and a brother, John (deceased). Jeannie also had multiple nieces and nephews with whom she had a special relationship. She had countless friends-especially in the West Bend area-who became like a second group of sisters to her.

Raised and educated as a traditional Catholic, Jeannie was open to the teachings of the Unitarian Universalists, and attended services at the Pittsburgh Unitarian Church when visiting family. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Kewaskum, and also attended services at numerous Catholic parishes in Southeastern Wisconsin.

Jeannie loved kids and animals. She had a deep admiration for Jane Goodall and Mr. Rodgers, and enjoyed taking photos of lighthouses and old barns. Jeannie was a voracious reader, especially of historical fiction. She was part of a women's book club, a craft group, and a Bunko club. Throughout her last week in the hospital, she requested that her family read her passages and poems from Thich Nhat Hanh, Leo Tolstoy's Calendar of Wisdom, and Mary Oliver's Dog Songs- all of which brought her comfort. She practiced smiling meditation and prayer during her struggling last days.

Jeannie embraced the simple things in life. She took pride in decorating her home, especially for Christmas. Jeannie made every effort to attend her grandchildren's events, even while struggling with illness. She enjoyed being a homemaker and always joked she "loved folding laundry- really, I do!"

She was quick to hug and share her big smile, putting those around her at ease; and had an uncommon ability to make others feel better, even during her resolute battle against cancer. Jeannie will be enormously missed by her family, relatives, and many friends.

A memorial is being planned for July. In lieu of flowers, Jeannie would like donations to be made to The Jane Goodall Institute. https://janegoodall.org/

So grateful that Brian and I were able to visit with Jeannie and Reggie during our last trip to Wisconsin. Jeannie, as always, wore her beautiful smile that made you feel like her closest friend. Such a warm and caring person that was so easy to love. We created so many memories over the years that will be cherished forever. I am sure that Brian, Poppa and Mia are celebrating with Jeannie up in heaven. She will be missed by us all. Until we see you again. Love, Alma and kids

Two photos of Jeannie to share - one is just a favorite memory of her embracing a zany Thibaudeau gathering in my parent´s backyard in Fond du Lac. Jeannie´s smile is one of the best and most genuine smiles I´ve ever encountered! The other photo is from a chance meeting at the ski hill in Kewauskum in December 2019. I was tubing with my mom, Valerie/ husband, Joe and son, Sebastian when lo and behold we bump into Jeannie, Jeb and his son in the warming house! We chatted like no time had passed and enjoyed a little family connection. I think that was the last time I saw Jeannie; she will be missed. <3

Jeannie was absolutely amazing! She had this incredible ability to make everyone feel special, even a little boy like me! Thanksgiving in West Bend was just the best. One of my absolute favorite memories is when I spent some summer time with Reg, Jeannie, and the Boys, and Aunt Jeannie let Jeb and me take over the basement and build this huge blanket fort. She made it so much fun for us, always! Love to all!

As family friends of the Jungwirths, we had the pleasure of getting to know Jeannie during some of her visits to Pittsburgh. She was always welcoming and had a way of putting everyone at ease with her warm smile and friendly conversation.

One Thanksgiving, we had a Tiramisu tasting competition, including Jeb´s favorite version from Whole Foods. Jeb was blindfolded during the taste test, and Jeannie´s laughter during his commentary was infectious.

More recently, during Thanksgiving 2024, the whole crew - from children to grandparents - played in a foosball tournament. Kelly and Jeannie were a team that many underestimated. Cheered on by Scout and Orange Cat, they instead laughed and played themselves past other teams that were a little more competitive in spirit.

We miss Jeannie and are very grateful to have known her. Through her kindness, generosity, and ever-present smile, she created a lasting legacy that will continue to brighten the lives of all who knew her.

When I was little, 5-6 years old - I spent a summer with Aunt Jeannie & Uncle Reg. Those memories have stayed with me all these years. She had this way of making everything feel like an adventure, even the smallest things-like helping her in the kitchen, picking flowers, or just sitting outside and listening to her stories. She made me feel safe, loved, and important-something you don't forget, no matter how much time passes. Aunt Jeannie had a warmth about her that made her more than just an aunt-she was a gentle guide in those early years, someone who shaped the way I love and care for others. Though she's gone, I carry those summer days with me always. I'll remember her smile, her kindness, and the way she made me feel like I belonged. Rest peacefully Aunt Jeannie. You are deeply loved and never forgotten.

While battling cancer in the hospital during the last few days of her life, my mom said to me something that was very difficult to hear, but a gift at the same time.

"I´m not going to make it. [long pause] Do you think I´ll go to Heaven?"

"Absolutely. If you don´t go, I don´t know who would. You will go to Heaven, Mom."

"I´ll watch over you from Heaven then."

"Do you think could reach me from Heaven? Do you think you could communicate and let me know you are there?"

"Yeah...I will try."

"How about a sign or signal? What could be a signal?"

"Hmmm...I don´t know. [pause} How about a little bell? I´ll have a little bell like this."

Laying in the hospital bed, Jeannie holds up her right hand and rings an imaginary bell back and forth, smiling.

"Okay. That sounds like a plan. You will be Jeannie Bell....I like that-Jeannie Bell."

(Jeannie smiles big). "I really like that," she says.

"I never thought you´d get a nickname at this point. But I like it- seems right. I will listen for that bell, Mom."

I feel so blessed to have known Jeannie. She lit up any room she walked in to. A fond early memory of mine was from when I was a kid visiting Oshkosh. Reggie and Jeannie picked me up and took me to the Milwaukee Zoo followed by a beautiful picnic. She made the day so special.
Her energy, kindness, compassion and laughter was so infectious.
We loved her visits to Tucson. Such fun times.
She was always so positive, even in the face of adversity. Sharing a photo from our last visit to Reggie and Jeannie´s home in June, 2023. The Klinger family will miss her very, very much. Rest in peace sweet angel. You´ve earned your wings.

Every time I think of Jeanne I hear her laugh and see her smile. I loved both of her sons and appreciated her attitude, professionalism, and willingness to help in any capacity. She raised wonderful boys and enjoyed watching them blossom. Jeanne lived life to the fullest and loved everyone. She will be missed.

Jeannie was a pleasure and a joy to work with at Green Tree Elementary. I could always count on Jeannie for a funny anecdote as she passed by my classroom and she had a smile that would light up a room! God bless and my condolences to all.

Jeannie was a gift to everyone who knew her, and she will be greatly missed! Looking back, we had so much fun at our Green Tree parties. This one was a costume party for our Red Hat group. Jeannie was dressed as Amelia Earhart, standing next to my Marilyn Monroe. Thank you Jeannie for the love and light you brought to our world!
I am sending hugs and prayers for God's comfort and peace to the Jungwirth family.

About 45 years ago Jeannie and I as well as several other friends got together once a month, usually doing a craft project and sharing baby stories as we all had young children. We made two Easter Bunnies which Jeannie suggested, they were hard for a non sewer like me. Jeannie was gracious and helped. Every Easter I tell my family that these are "Jeannie Bunnies". She was a wonderful person and my prayers go out to her family.
