Jeff Breed Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 29, 2010.
Jeff Breed, 51, passed away October 29, 2010 in San Marcos, TX. Jeff was born and raised in Austin, TX. He is survived by his wife Barrie and daughter Maggie of San Marcos, TX and son Brad and his wife Dana of New Braunfels, TX. His kids were his greatest source of pleasure and pride. He is also survived by his loving parents Truman and Ann Breed, Jeff's brother Greg Breed and his wife Brooke and their children Stacie and Trey, all of Austin; in-laws B.A. and LeRayne Donelson and sister-in-law Blynn Weldon and her husband Tim of Stratford, TX, and their children Bailey Bryson and Carley duMentil, her husband Jeff and their son Noah all of Amarillo, TX, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jeff graduated from Anderson High School in Austin and from Texas State University (then Southwest Texas State). He worked in the family business, Breed & Co. of Austin. While still attending SWT, Jeff bought King Feed Store in San Marcos which eventually became Breed & Co. of San Marcos. He was proud not only to have kept the business thriving during the instability of the 80's, but to have paid the business off early. Eventually he sold the San Marcos store and became a partner in Breed & Co. of Austin. Jeff was an avid outdoorsman who cherished his time hunting, fishing, and working the land. Quiet strength best describes Jeff. He truly believed that it was best to speak less but say more. However, he was also known for his one-liners that came only at the perfect moment. He was a solid man of principal and an example of true strength and courage under fire. Not once during his battle with brain cancer did anyone ever hear him complain or ask "why." He played the hand he was dealt with courage and quiet strength. Following a private burial service, a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at First Christian Church San Marcos, 3105 Ranch Road 12 in San Marcos, TX.

I came to work with the Breeds during a time of great transition in my life. Jeff hired me. He and his father Truman were always complimentary of my hard work as they led by example. Jeff was soft spoken and reserved9. I will forever be thankful for what I gained working at the 29th Street location and the Westlake location. Honestly, if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have resigned. The Breeds were great employers as were the employees. The best. The best. God Bless you Breed family and thank you Jeff. Rest in Peace and God Bless you Truman, Anne, Greg and family. I love you all!
