Jeff Davis “J.D.� Shaw of North Little Rock passed peacefully from the arms of his loving family to the loving arms of his Lord on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Atkins, Arkansas on December 3, 1931 to the late Leonard Nello Shaw and Mollie Ray Nutt. After graduating from North Little Rock High School, he married the love of his life, Joyce Ray Wilkes, to whom he was married to for 56 years. He worked as a Supervisor for the Circulation Department at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette where he retired after 55 years of service. He was a member of Crystal Hill Assembly of God and enjoyed playing the guitar during worship service. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed many activities such as fishing, hunting and camping. He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather and a compassionate person to everyone he met. He lived his life by these words: Proverbs 22:1 “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.� He is survived by his wife, Joyce Shaw of North Little Rock; his three children, David Shaw and his wife, Linda of Christiana, Tennessee, Brenda Smith and her husband, Dean of Little Rock, and Paul Shaw of Maumelle; two granddaughters Nicole Smith of Little Rock and Brittany Smith of Little Rock; one brother, Floyd Shaw and his wife, Edna of Benton; four sisters Shirley Creel and her husband, Bill of Ft. Worth Texas, Martha Jo Holmes and her late husband, Clifford of North Little Rock, Ruby Womble and her husband, Howard of Bee Branch, and Diane Heard and her husband, David of Heber Springs along with many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice Home Care for the care he received and to all the family and friends for their support. A celebration of his life will be held at Crystal Hill Assembly of God at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 6th. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5th at the North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
