JEFFERY LYNN "JEFF" VANDERHOOF

JEFFERY LYNN "JEFF" VANDERHOOF, 65, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018, at his residence. Jeff was born in Ironton, on February 4, 1953, a son of Helen Willis Vanderhoof Turner of Ironton, Ohio, and the late Robert Vanderhoof. He is also survived by his loving wife, Sue Schaffer Vanderhoof, whom he married May 19, 1990. Jeff was a graduate of Coal Grove High School and was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Deering, Ohio. He was a member of the United States Air Force (1971-1974), Ohio Air National Guard (1974 -1976), United States Navy (1985 - 1989), and United States Navy Reserve (1989 - 1995). He retired from Haverhill Chemicals and, in his spare time, enjoyed woodworking, camping, classic cars, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Mike Vanderhoof. Jeff is also survived by his two daughters, Jennifer (Michael Wilburn) Pleasants of Coal Grove, Ohio, and Ali Cronacher Burns of Columbia, South Carolina; his two sons, Jason Vanderhoof of Coal Grove, Ohio, and Andrew (Tyler) Fortman of Chicago, Illinois; and his two brothers, Ronald D. (Regina) Vanderhoof of Ironton, Ohio, and Scott (Kelli) Vanderhoof of Bellevue, Nebraska. His kind heart and gentle spirit will be remembered by his four grandchildren, Austen Pleasants of Athens, Ohio, Arik Pleasants of Coal Grove, Ohio, Jillian Burns of Columbia, South Carolina and Remington Vanderhoof of Coal Grove, Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton, Ohio, from 10 a.m., to noon. Following visitation hours, a memorial service will begin at noon at Phillips Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Deron Newman officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast, 100 Veterans Memorial Drive, Greenup County, Kentucky, with military graveside rights provided by VFW Post #93.
