Jeffrey Carr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 28, 2022 to Jan. 1, 2023.
Jeffrey Clifford Carr, age 66, of Westerville, passed away on December 25th, 2022 at The James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 24th, 1956 to his parents Clifford and JoAnn Carr.Jeff was a kind soul and beloved husband, father, brother, friend and "Papaw". He can now add donor to the list, as he has given a gift toward finding a cure for cancer by donating his body to the Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Jeff graduated from Mount Gilead High School in 1974. After high school he attended West Point and then transferred to Ohio Northern University where he graduated with a Pharmacy degree in 1980. He was a member of the American Pharmacists Association and Ohio Pharmacists Association. He worked in several hospitals throughout Ohio including Mansfield General, The Ohio State University and Avita Health System.Jeff loved sports. He was always playing, coaching or watching - from basketball to softball, track to skiing, and most notably football, as he was a member of the teams at both West Point and Ohio Northern University. He will always be remembered for his strength, not only as an athlete, but also for the way he so bravely fought cancer over the past several years. He was an expert at hiding his pain and always put everyone else's feelings ahead of his own. He was even chasing his grandchildren along the beach and playing in the sand with them just a few short weeks before he passed. In addition to physical strength, the strength of his faith can also be admired, as he was a proud member of the Vineyard Church, where he enjoyed attending services and participating in various small groups.

He is survived by wife Michele Carr of Westerville; daughter Lindsay(Danny) Tomovski of Washington, MI and son Nathan(Jordan) Carr of Chagrin Falls; his grandchildren Lana, Lennon and Lia Tomovski; and his siblings Cindy(Edward) Kline of Galion, Terry(John) Seitz of Pickerington, Peggy(Jake) Brey of Mt. Gilead, Danny Carr of Mansfield, Lori Carr of Mt. Gilead and Judith Fernberg of Rochester, NY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Carr and sister-in-law Vicki Carr.

A memorial service will be held at 10am on January 21st, 2023 at Vineyard Church of Delaware County (1001 W Cherry St in Sunbury, Ohio) with a reception following.

Jeff was a great guy and taught me a lot about pharmacy and life in general. Although I never met his wife or two children, he always spoke fondly of them with a smile. He was a proud father and grandfather. My thoughts go out to the family. Hoping that your memories of Jeff will be a comfort during this time.

I worked with Jeff at MedCentral Hospital Mansfield. He was one of the most kind caring and compassionate pharmacists I have met. He cared for patients for his coworkers and those he knew and those he didn´t. He always had a smile and a kind word to share I always appreciated that and I know everyone I worked with at the time including our patients and other professionals like the doctors did to. In a vulnerable time like the hospital setting having someone like him involved truly made a difference. My thoughts & prayers are with Jeff´s entire family as well as his friends. You will continue to be in my thoughts & prayers in the coming days weeks & months ahead. Thank You Jeff for being you and for making a difference in the lives of others.

Michelle I am saddened to hear of your loss but happy for your husband that he has completed his final struggle. Though I did not know him I am impressed by his accomplishments. What a fine brave selfless man chose to spend his life with you. God bless you and your family.
