A few days ago my husband was telling me that he had to teach himself how to type and he feels as though he’s still not as speedy as he’d like to be. I told him about my middle school Computers teacher at Collegium who taught me how to type and instilled an appreciation for technology in me. I’m not a tech expert but my passion for all things tech is a common thread is all of my professional positions. I just want Mr. Dean’s family to know that he had such a lasting impact on his students. He is sorely missed!

Jeff was a Big Brother to my son Tony for many years. He worked in Akron at the time and even when moving on to PA, he still had Tony visit (riding Amtrak)! He was a wonderful man. Took Tony on adventures but also attended teacher meetings with me and helped Tony with just day to day mechanisms of being a boy. We loved him and were very saddened when learning of his passing. The world is a sadder place without him.

Dear Dean Family,
Our prayers are with you today. When I think about Jeff, I have to smile because of all the adventures we had together as neighborhood kids. We had some great times together. Again our thoughts are with you and your family. God Bless!

I am so very sorry to hear of Jeff's early death. We were friends at Fox Chapel High School and then, at University of Pittsburgh, where he was a member of both marching bands. My sincere sympathy to his mother and his wife, Monica, and their four children. I am truly sorry for their great loss. I'm gratified to see Jeff lead an interesting and involved life, as he seemed he would when I knew him in his youth.

Dear Dean Family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I got to know Jeff in high school when we were in the senior class' production of Dracula. He was a very funny and friendly young man who truly enjoyed acting and especially singing. My deepest sympathies to Jeff's wife and children, along with Mrs. Dean, his mom and former high school nurse, whom I had the pleasure of knowing.
Sincerely,
Karla Owens

It was with great sadness that I learned of Jeff's death. My sister and I went to Fox Chapel with Jeff and were in the marching bamd with him. I remember him as drum major and in the musicals at Fox Chapel. My sister, Karen, also played tuba. I always treasure those high school memories. Our condolences to your family.
Sincerely
Karla Owens (Maslaney)
