Jeff taught the bankruptcy class at Massachusetts School of Law, from which I graduated. Jeff's own ebullience and enthusiasm for bankruptcy practice inspired me to go into that area. He remained a friend and mentor throughout his life. I think of him at least once a day: "what would Jeff do"?

I was just informed about Jeff's passing. We had many cases together where I was debtor's counsel and Jeff was the Trustee. In addition Jeff invited me to assist him when he would teach his students at MSL about Chapter 13 bankruptcy rules and procedures. I especially enjoyed teaching the MSL classes because after class Jeff would take me out for jazz which I relished almost as much as Jeff. My his memory live on with the kind deeds he performed.

I never met a man that loved Jazz and people so much. This man can light up an entire room. He always included everyone and kept in touch with people no matter how far you were. The world has lost a hero. Rest In Peace Jeff. Love you brother. -Timon

My favorite teacher EVER, he made law school bearable....so funny, entertaining and kind. He even made the bankruptcy code read like an adventure novel at times! Never saw him in a bad mood once. So good to all his students and colleagues, can't believe he's gone.

Jeff was a powerful and effective advocate for his clients at a time in their lives when they most needed his expert advice. He was a great consumer lawyer who worked tirelessly to reach solutions that helped families. Judges and fellow lawyers held him in the highest esteem. In court he was always well-prepared, knowledgeable in the law and open to negotiating resolutions that were pragmatic and realistic. He was a caring person. He fostered justice and fairness in the legal system throughout his career. I never saw him without a smile on his face. We will miss him greatly.

What a good guy. How very sad a loss; sad for his family. The world is less without him in it. Heaven best have single malt scotch and fine cigars.

I remember meeting Prof Kitaeff when working on a case, since I wasn't fortunate enough to take his class at MSL. He was always so helpful and so gracious and fun. Later I would run into him up in Seabrook NH at the annual scotch and jazz festival he attended each year, and that was always a hoot as he was surrounded by colleagues and friends and he got to try out various versions of scotch while listening to some great jazz vocalists and bands. It seemed the event was made just for him!!!
Jeff was a great guy, one of the most thoughtful and intelligent people you could meet, and I know his family feels the same. I feel like when Jeff entered a room the room lit up, and everything was more interesting and alive because of his wonderful presence. My sympathies to his wife and family and I know he will be sorely missed.

I graduated from MSL in 1996. Jeff helped me get my first lawyer job, and remained a friend and mentor. I visited him at his home about three weeks ago, and although he obviously was not well, he was his usual ebullient (if not as energetic) self. My heart is heavy...
