His picture is so familiar and the thought of him crossed my mind. I worked with Kirk in the credit union business! He was probably in his 20´s! My condolences to the family.

Kirk and I have been friends, competitors, mentors, colleagues, co-presenters and dinner buddies for years.
In 2012 I had a serious health scare; I had to have major surgery...who was waiting for me in ICU? Kirk of course, we were joined by our mutual dear friend, Corky Mobley where we drove the critical care unit absolutely nuts with our belly roll laughter.
I could not sit next to Kirk at meetings with a serious topic as he would soon have me snickering until I was nearly in tears. I recall laughing heartily with our pal, Lisa Konito in Washington where we were nearly disruptive with our laughter.
My dearest Kirk, you were indeed one of a kind. I am better having had your friendship in my life. Thank you for reminding me to work hard but enjoy living life. Our laughters are now my treasured memories.
My prayers, love and blessings to your sweet family; may gods love comfort them in your absence.
My love to the entire McCracken family. Thank you for sharing Kirk with so many of us in the higher education community. We all loved him so much!

My heart is broken for the McCracken family. Kirk only knew one way, how to make you laugh under any circumstances. He was full of life, love and very caring.
From the first day I met him in 1995 it´s been one wonder ride of a friendship.
That day at a conference in Minnesota he walked over to my booth and said "Who are you", " Where did you come from?" "Why are you here?" and "Who brings candles to a conference"
From that point on countless memories were made.
I will always keep the memories close to my heart.
He made a tremendous impact with everyone that crossed his packed and will be missed by all of us.
My deepest condolences to everyone in his family.
I hope you have your cards with you my dear friend.

I met Kirk 32 years ago, when I began working at Weber State University. We became immediate friends. He was always so proud of his family. Every time he would visit, he would tell me stories of his kids, grandkids and of course how wife wonderful wife Patty was doing.
One story about Kirk that always made laugh, was when be had just gone back to work at ERS. We all know yech savy Kirk was. They gave him a smart phone and they were so excited showing him the different features. How he could look at reports, or keep track of expenses. Kirk looked at them and said, "It's a phone, if you call me I will answer. If I don't answer leave me a message and I will call you back. If you text me, I will call you. It's a phone."
Kirk will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out Patty and all of his family. - Claude Payne

Dear McCracken Family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I worked in the same industry as Kirk, working alongside him for more than 15 years. Words seem inadequate to express the profound loss those of us in the industry feel, and I do not even want to imagine the immense grief you must be experiencing.
Kirk was not just a colleague in the industry, he was also a friend and a true force for good for many universities and colleges and through them impacted the lives of literally thousands of students.
I remember countless times when Kirk went above and beyond to support his clients, the industry, and yes, even his competitors. Kirk was a formidable competitor. We often found ourselves on opposite sides of the table, vying for the same contracts. Yet, even in the heat of competition, Kirk always maintained his integrity and sense of fairness. He never let rivalry cloud his judgment, and he was always willing to collaborate for the greater good.
In fact, some of my fondest memories of Kirk are from the times we worked together on industry boards and committees. Kirk's insights, wisdom, and sense of humor were invaluable. Hopefully, you will know that your husband, dad and granddad was extremely well-respected in his industry and was a very popular candidate for many key industry positions.
Kirk's passing leaves a tremendous void in our industry, but his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Please accept my profound condolences and prayers during this difficult time. I very much hope you will soon replace tears with smiles when you think of Kirk.
With deepest sympathy,
Denyc Perez

My sincerest condolences to the McCracken family and this colleagues at Todd Brimmer Lawson. I'm lucky I had the chance to know and work with Kirk, even if it was only for half a decade. Kirk was truly an exceptionally kind and generous person that deeply loved his family. Kirk could light up a room whenever he talked about his wife and was always very proud of the accomplishments of his kids and grandkids. The work Kirik did, at least in Colorado, will have a lasting impact on generations to come - a legacy that should never be forgotten. Kirk will be missed.

I met Kirk almost 30 years ago when I started working at CU. Kirk was always so kind. He was someone you could count on to ask questions about regulations. He worked on legislation in CO that would better Universities and Colleges. I would get to visit with him at conferences and he would always talk about his family and grandkids. You could tell he was a very proud husband, father and grandfather. I will keep Kirk's family in my prayers. My sincerest condolences.
