Jeffrey Olson

Jeffrey Wayne Olson, 57, passed away on April 6, 2025, in Modesto, California. Born on August 8, 1967, in Downey, California, Jeffrey lived a life rooted in nature.

He dedicated many years to the National Park Service, contributing his time and talents to some of the nation's most iconic landscapes, including Yosemite, the Everglades, and the Grand Canyon. His passion for the outdoors led him to ultimately make his home in the Yosemite area, where he continued serving in various roles within Yosemite National Park.

Outside of work, Jeffrey embraced adventure and the outdoors. He enjoyed barbecues, rafting on the Merced River, camping, fishing, riding ATVs across rugged trails, and spending time with his beloved dogs. He and Margaret also enjoyed taking cruises together and visiting casinos-activities that reflected his spirited nature and love for exploration.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Margaret Essary; his sister Dianne Olson (Chris) Iannone; his brother Alan (Kathi) Olson; his nephew Weston Iannone; nieces Lindsay Iannone and Olivia Olson; numerous cousins; aunts and an uncle. He shared a special bond with his dogs Chaka, Toby, and Leah, who brought him great joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Marlys Olson; and grandparents Oliver and Alma Rethman, and Orien and Esther Olson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mariposa County Fish & Game Protective Association, 5056 Darrah Road, Mariposa, CA.

Jeffrey loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and may the places he cherished continue to echo with the joy he found in them.
