STANARDSVILLE, Va.Sonja Kay Jenkins, 55 of Stanardsville, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014. Sonja was born June 18, 1959, in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of A.C. and JoAnn Comer Jenkins of Elkton. She grew up in Elkton, and was a 1977 Graduate of Elkton High School, where she was active in sports and attended Piedmont Community College and J.M.U. She was a member of the Charlottesville Track Club, and worked for the U.V.A. Credit Union for a number of years, and most recently AFLAC.Besides her parents, Sonja is survived by her son, Benjamin "Buck" Jenkins and girlfriend, Tracie Deane, of Stanardsville; a daughter, Elizabeth Jenkins of Stanardsville; companion of 32 years, Kenny Shifflett; brother, Bobby Jenkins and wife, Monica; sister, Kim Smith and husband, Tom, all of Elkton; seven grandchildren, Gauge, Keristen, Kadance and Blake Jenkins, Kanin Snow, Nathan & Kenzie Eubanks.Services entrusted to the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton and will be private.Online condolences may be sent to the Jenkins family by visiting www.kygers.com.
