Michael J. Meier, age 75, of Crystal Lake was born March 28, 1941 in Woodstock, IL to Harold and Marie Meier. He passed away peacefully January 18, 2017 in Crystal Lake.
Michael coached his son Scott and grandson Cameron throughout their youth baseball years and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play tennis. He was a self-employed painter and decorator in the Crystal Lake area for over 50 years.
Michael was a volunteer fireman with Crystal Lake Fire-Rescue for many years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, boating, watching wildlife, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Lou; children, Conni (Jeff) Stinek, and Scott Meier; grandchildren, Cameron and Kelsey Laktash; and sister, Sandra Knowles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Bonnie Meier and Judy Albrecht.
Michael's family, in accordance with his wishes, will not have services.
Memorial donations may be made to: Crystal Lake Fire and Rescue, 100 N. Woodstock, Crystal Lake, IL 60014; or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.

Dear Mary Lou and family. This is a voice from your past. I worked for Jonnie and Lee at the Villa Bleu for many years "back in the day". The Ormsby families were always some of our favorite customers. I happened to visit "Wear did u get that" recently and learned of Mike's long health struggles. May he rest in peace. I send my sympathies to u and the rest of the Ormsby clan. No matter the circumstances, it's always a sad time. May u find comfort in good memories. Fondly, Libby
