1942 - 2013
Peacefully, and with her family by her side, early on February 16 in palliative care, Jennifer passed away after a courageous, spirited battle against ovarian cancer. Jennifer leaves to mourn her adoring husband, Paul, and her three loving children, Amanda (John Geraci), Matthew (Tiffany Turner), and Jessica. She was the beloved "Nonny" to five grandchildren, Dylan, Avery, August, Emmet and Charlotte, and cherished aunt to Frederic (Emily), Emmanuel (Louise), Isabelle (Neil) and Aude-Agathe Dingemans and close sister-in-law to Linda Marchand. Jen always saw the sun shining behind the clouds. Graduating from McGill at 20, she lived in Montreal and Boston, where she began her 48-year adventure with Paul. She raised a beautiful family on Windsor Avenue in Westmount and was selflessly devoted to them and to her grandchildren. Always creative and artistic, she designed and made children's clothes, participated in craft groups such as Chez Nous, collected antique furniture and learned carpentry, obtained a diploma in Library Science, started a successful moving business to assist seniors, and helped build and create a beloved family retreat on Lac Manitou in the Laurentians, where she had spent summers as a child. Jen was an avid and passionate gardener, participating in both the Diggers and Weeders and the Robertson McGill Garden club, and she rose every morning in the summer to greet the flowers in her garden on Lac Manitou. Jen was throughout her life a selfless shining star around whom orbited many friends and family who will miss her warmth and brightness. The family is particularly grateful to Dr. Lucy Gilbert of the Royal Victoria Hospital and to all of the superb and caring nursing staff on 5F of the Women's Pavilion, where Jennifer lived for nearly three months. A service in celebration of Jennifer's life will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013, at the Chapel of the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont (514-279-6540) at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated. She made such a difference to so many of us, as well as untold others, by her warm welcome to everyone, especially newcomers, her creative faithful friendship, and her always sunny attitude, a real inspiration to us all. Dear Paul and the family,
Everyday I still think of Jen and how great a friend she was. I especially remember when she got the 'gang' together and she had painted a T-shirt saying "Sonia says" and the bridge group presented it to me and all had ones too. So fun and funny. Dear Paul,
We will always remember Jennifer as the great spirit and warm person who greeted us when we moved on Windsor. She was so kind, so wonderful. And she was such an inspiration for us, a young couple starting a family.

Jenny and I are first cousins. She had this remarkable ability of getting people who didn't know each other together who would become life long friends. Betty Redwood, Joannie Ferguson, Jenny and me. When I finally moved from Dorval, it was suggested we call ourselves The Westmount Gang of Four. what a fabulous title! it kind of urged us on to play better bridge.
