I just want to say to the family of Spencer-Bey, your loved one was admired not only by me, but so many of Pittsburgh jazz lovers. He was a great teacher and motivator for the music and the musicians. He always said "Bill you have to practice the tunes that you enjoy and make sure you play a tune in its original key before you learn it in another key".
He was very unselfish with teaching and always telling one "keep pushing for your best". He was a great lover of developing the left hand. He always loved the standards of the 40's and 50's,etc. Spencer is truly the one that made it all real-in jazz and friendship.
