JERARD HURWITZ

Still hard to believe he´s gone. He´ll live on in many of our memories.

Again my deepest sympathy. You will always be remembered!

Jerry was my first true mentor in life, who really believed in my abilities and let me know it. Losing Jerry feels like losing a dad.

Jerry had a great influence on me. As a Sr. Technician in his lab, he encourage me to aspire to reach elevated level of scientific knowledge and develop into an independent researcher. I will never forget the memory of him. He is truly missed.

As a research associate at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, I first met The Dr Hurwitz. He was a Force that will always be with me. His guidance & kindness cannot be matched. RIP Jerry

Jerry was a transformative figure in my scientific career. He was the best mentor. His teachings will always be a part of me.

When I came to Sloan-Kettering as a young Assistant Member in 1989, Jerry was warm and welcoming and called me "kid". He still called me that ten years later when I received tenure at MSKCC (and he was still working at the bench). He was a giant of his generation, and will be sorely missed.

Jerry was my PhD adviser, and had an oversized role in shaping my identity as a scientist. I will treasure the memory of him and the experience in his lab. Thank you Jerry!

Jerry was my thesis mentor. He taught me to be a scientist. I use his training every time we carry out an experiment.

Jerry, you were the best and will be missed. Thanks for everything.

Jerry, you are my hero, mentor, and father. You taught me how to live a genuine scientist's life. You will shine and be remembered forever. I will miss you.

I left Jerry's lab in 1983 when my daughter was born to be a stay at home mom. I often reminisce about those days and people in his lab and Ora's. with great fondness.

Jerry's belief in me helped me believe in myself. Striving to meet his expectations of what I could do gave me opportunities I could never have dreamed of and continues to make me a better person and scientist. I wish I had words to express my gratitude; I hope my life and work will do.

Jerry had enormous influence on my professional and personal life. He taught me how to be a scientist and how to work harder than I ever had before. His legacy will include not only the great work that he did, but all of the work that all of the people that he trained did. He is much loved by all of those who worked for him and I will miss him greatly. My sincere condolences to all of his family. He was a great man.
