Philip Barker Obituary
He was born in Benton on Nov. 13, 1924, the son of Thomas Frank and Annie (Turner) Barker. Philip attended Fairfield schools and in the early 1940s was a professional boxer in Waterville.
Most of his life he was employed as a carpenter. He also worked at various jobs, including Drew Roofing and was a bulldozer operator for Violette Construction.
His wife, Anna Reed Barker, died in 1998. He was also predeceased by five brothers, Linwood, Roland, Laforest, Eldridge and Raymond.
Surviving are four sisters, Mildred Wood of Fairfield, Arlene Cole of Albion, Louise Cole of North Vassalboro and June Woodworth of Benton. Also surviving are a special friend, Roger Carter of Sidney; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 5, at the Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield. Arrangements are by Wheeler Funeral Home of Oakland.
