Jerome Backus We, the family of the late Mr. Jerome "Rome" Backus, invite members, and friends to attend the Homegoing Services on Monday, June 17, 2013, 11am in the Backus Memorial Chapel, 450 North Dargan Street, Florence. Burial will follow in the Snow Hill Church Cemetery, as directed by Backus Funeral Home, of Florence. Visitation will take place today, Sunday, June 16, 2013 in the Backus Memorial Chapel from 4 - 6pm. Mr. Backus passed on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Faith Nursing Facility, after an extended illness. "Rome" was a kind and and loving spirit, and he will always be remembered by those, who loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory: Two daughters, Judy B. White of Tabor City, North Carolina and Janice B. Anderson, of Florence; Four grandchildren; Two sisters, Martha Bemjamin and Annie Nowlin, of Effingham; One brother, Joe (Ethlene) Backus, Sr., of Lamar; Two Step-Sisters, Melvina and Mattie King, both of Florence; Two Step- Brothers, John (Dorothy) King, and Harold (Angela) King; One Aunt, Mrs. Mae Bell Edwards, of Timmonsville; and a devoted Niece and Caregiver, Miss Marsha Ann Faison, of Florence; other numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
