Jerome Manheim Obituary
Jerome Henry Manheim beloved husband of Sylvia, father to Karl, Lisa and Camryn, and grandfather to Noah, Micah and Milo died at home on Saturday, October 29. A true intellectual and educator, Jerry taught mathematics at several universities across the United States. He concluded his career at CSULB from 1971-1994 both as dean and professor. His relentless fight for truth and justice touched and inspired many many people. Jerry loved his family, friends, politics, spicy food, art, pursuit of the truth, The Columbia River, the cosmos, and proving God doesn't exist. All of the above will miss him dearly. Dr. Manheim was such an influence on my life. I'm glad we were able to communicate after so many years.

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Dear Jerry. He was so much fun and I have always been grateful for his kindness and friendliness to me. Dear Sylvia, Karl, Lisa and Camryn: Jerry was extraordinary, in so many ways. He married a fabulous woman and together they reared three amazing children. Many years ago, I got lucky and was drawn, for a time, into your lives. Hanging out with Jerry and Sylvia was pure joy. My heart goes out to you all -- I know you will miss him. Dear Sylvia and family,
Jerry was a respected and dear friend of my late husband Semaan Salem. Semaan appreciated Jerry for his intelligence and his wit. Do you remember taking Semaan and me to a lecture at a Jewish Center when I was over nine months pregnant and Jerry reassuring me not to worry because, if I felt a contraction, there was sure to be a doctor in the house?
Jerry gave me the yogurt starter that I am still using all these decades.

Dear Sylvia and family,
Jerry's death is a great loss. He was a very bright and funny man who brought a warm presence to our OLLI. His many achievements are well documented. We will miss him greatly. My sincere condolences.

To the whole Manheim family:
All of us -- Dina, Maya, Noah and me -- so wish we could have attended the service. Jerry was brilliant, funny, steadfast, and courageous. Warm and welcoming to me, my wife, and my children, we all consider him and the whole Manheim family a part of ours. His greatest and most enduring monument is his relationship with Sylvia, his astonishing and accomplished and passionate children, and his equally amazing grandchildren.
