Jerome Stephan Anthony Metallo-beloved, son, brother, husband, devoted father, cherished friend, and the heart of his community-passed away peacefully on the morning of his 55th birthday, July 15, 2025, at 9:00 AM.

Known lovingly as "Jerry," he lived life with a rare and joyful passion. He was an old soul with a magnetic charm-handsome, soulful, and endlessly warm. A gifted sommelier and wine expert, Jerry didn't just pour wine-he told stories through it. He had a loyal following of "wine groupies" who trusted his palate, hung on his every tasting note, and followed his recommendations like gospel. He believed wine was an experience to be shared, a way to bring people together, and a reason to celebrate life-whether it was a rare vintage or a weeknight glass with friends.

Jerry was a romantic in every sense. He adored his wife, Cara, with whom he built a life full of music, mischief, and deep love. Their kitchen was their dance floor, where meals often burned because the music was too good and the moment too sweet to interrupt. They laughed hard, loved deeply, and showed the world how to savor every little thing.

He was a proud and tender father to Gianna and Luca, and the neighborhood "Papa" to Elijah, Tyler, Amelia, and Lily-a role he embraced with open arms and a full heart. Whether sharing wisdom, cracking a joke, or slipping someone a chocolate when no one was looking, Jerry made every kid feel like family.

A passionate lover of the classics, Jerry had a soft spot for black-and-white films, the Rat Pack, and the timeless croon of Sinatra. He often said he was born in the wrong era, but anyone who knew him could see that he brought the elegance, charm, and soul of that bygone time into the present.

Jerry's extended family was loud, loving, and proudly boisterous-and they never missed a chance to celebrate his birthday, his life, or any excuse to raise a glass. This year, they honored him one last time on the very day he was born-laughing, crying, and telling stories that will echo for generations.

He is survived by his beloved wife Cara, his children Gianna and Luca, and his devoted parents Jerome and Carol Metallo as well, brother Michael, sister in law Heather and loving nieces Merissa and Kaitlyn. He also leaves behind countless friends, wine lovers, neighbors, and "adopted" family members who were better for having known him.

Jerome Metallo taught us all about joy, about love, and about the power of truly living. In the words of one of his favorite songs:

"The best is yet to come, and babe, won't it be fine..."

Rest easy, Jerry. You were the vintage we'll never forget.

Jerry was so wonderful and full of life. He was the swimmer at Fox Chapel Adult Ed. that took over 10 minutes to get into the water because it was cold. We all loved Jerry, his personality, his stories, his jokes. Everything about him was special. We loved going to the FWGS in the Waterworks and getting hugs and wonderful tips about wines, food and great music. He will be sorely missed.

I was lucky to get to know Jerry starting at the Cranberry wine & spirits store and kept in touch when he went to Fox Chapel. He was so great to be around, such a lovely, positive spirit. Sweetest guy ever. His spirit lives on. I´m sorry for the family´s loss, and for all our loss.

The photo was of the "Wine Crew" at the Bordeaux seminar in Philadelphia which just one of many great days I spent with Jerry. He was such a student of wine analyzing each one and carrying that experience back to his customers. His love of Italian wine was deep as was his family heritage. We shared many spirited conversation discussing which were better, French or Italian wines. In the end we both grew to appreciate each other´s tastes and point of view. I´m so sad to see you go but I know you are sampling all the best vintages up in heaven. Rest in piece, my friend.

Jerry, you have made myself and family better because we know you. You have touched our hearts more than you will ever know. Your smile and laughter was contagious and a sight I will forever remember and cherish. The love you showed Elijah helped create a kinder child and that I am forever grateful. What you have given me is more than anyone can ever write about or repay but what I will do is be kinder be more appreciative and love harder. Thank you for all the love and memories, until we meet again my friend keep sipping the wine and dancing
always, Kelly

I was blessed to get to know Jerry over the last few years. We shared a huge appreciation for the Pink Panther movies. He was a kind and funny man. I think the world is a little dimmer without him in it. Jerry you will be sorely missed.
