Jerome B. Paradis

April 2025 - For some unknown reason, I thought of Mr Paradis. I worked in the Seymour Forest where Mr Paradis fished for steelhead for the hatchery. Always enjoyed talking to JP. My father was also a provincial court judge so occasionally would discuss law & issues. Mr Paradis was an easy going fellow to talk too. I have warm memories of him.

Justice Paradis was one of those people who actually made a difference, and reminded one that "justice could be served." I witnessed him in family court, and in criminal court, and even at times when I may have disagreed or been somewhat confused by his reasoning, I always trusted that fairness would be seen in his court, and held a great respect for his judgments. I was disappointed on hearing he had retired, as it was surely a loss to our justice system. I was encouraged on reading his commentaries in the North Shore News. I was grateful on learning he had joined LEAP. I am saddened to learn of his illness and his passing. Our family wishes to extend our deepest sympathies to his wife and family.

I remember Jerry as a warm, gregarious and engaging judicial colleague. Though his illness was painful,I trust he is at peace. Au revoir, Jerry. You'll be missed.

I remember Jerry with fondness and respect. What a good man, what a hospitable friend, and what a sad loss.

My deepest condolences to the family of Judge Paradis. He was a wise man and I for one will not forget this good man. It was an honour working in his courtroom.

As a N.Van."P.O."I had the honor of appearing in His Court many times.He was kind enough to provide a reference for law school.In '88 ,when He said..."go to Queen's"..of course,I followed His advice.Having not seen Him for many years ,I was lucky enough to "cross His path" last fall at the Main St.court. A good man ! A wise man ! He inspired me ! Condolences.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Judge Paradis. My sincere condolences go to his family.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of Judge Paradis.

I learned a lot from him.

I did not always agree with his point of view but I always learned from any of his arguments or judgements, which were always well thought out, researched and informed.

My thoughts are with his family.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. The world has lost a good man. I feel very honoured to have worked with Judge Paradis. He will be missed.

Sad to hear of Jerry's passing. Condolences from Natalie, Kevin O'Connell and all of us here in the reform community in Christchurch and in NZ. Jerry's contribution will never be forgotten.
