SCHWEITZER - Jerome R. "Jerry"
Of Williamsville, NY, born on 11/10/1925, died on 12/8/2022. Beloved husband of Elaine (nee Thier) for 71 years. Son of the late Dr. Joseph & Martha Schweitzer. Adored father of Jo Schweitzer, Bobbi (Stanley) Levine, James & Jon Schweitzer. Grandfather of Austin (Adam) Zaranko & Jordan Price. Great-grandfather of Brody & Piper Zaranko. Brother of the late Sally Schweitzer Bass. In his youth, one of Jerry's greatest accomplishments was attaining the Eagle Scout ranking in the Boy Scouts of America. He was a WWII Navy veteran who served his country as a medic in the Pacific Theater. Jerry had an impactful career as a beloved teacher at Lafayette & Bennett High Schools. Many students referred to him as "the tiny tiger" since he was small in stature but fierce in his passion for teaching them. Jerry was a lifelong member of Temple Beth Zion.
