I remember when I heard "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You", in high school, I liked that song so much that it was my all time favorite song. It has so many interesting parts and the lyrics are great. What a talented musician!

To Kyle , green eyes of one of your father's girlfriends I was told inspired one of my most favorite lyrics "green eyed ocean lady" - a woman of all knowing pure magic of Love , and an untouchable Goddess who ends the pains of loneliness for tormented. I shut my eyes and imagine her powers of immense Love coming out of her beautiful, graceful , brick house perfect body of a woman blessing the night and day just by being . Green usually means green with envy though and true green eyes must be rare, I am really not quite sure if this woman was a real living woman or a romantic dream. I would like to imagine she was just a dream.

The years have passed and now is January 12, 2023. I was a Freshman at Metropolitan State College Fall of 67. I did some heavy 3.2 in in those days. JBs on Sante Fe, Sam´s on Lookout Mtn, the Exadus on 17th, LaPichet on Mississippi, Cherry Creek Shopping Center. However it was La Pichet Tuesday nights free food and Strobe lights and the Half Dozen or Sense or Cents we´re Playing. Some Afro haired dude that I would see at Metros student Union as we passed going to and fro to class. The band would play Cream I´m so Glad and Free off of Fresh Cream Album. Also Hendrix Purple Haze plus any other top hit covers. Fond memories in the dark with strobes flashing and Drums coming in on both Cream songs. What a rush. Little did I know I was watching rock and roll history. I´d heard he was on Ed Sullivan as a youngster possibly 3 years old as The Little Drummer Boy. Nor did I expect Green Eyed Lady to come out eventually. Moonrakers Soul Survivors Blitzy Creek Eliches Battle of the Bands those were the days. Sorry to hear of Jerry´s Passing he led a very successful musicians life. I have yet to find another city in the US that matches the magic Denver´s 3.2 bars and night life of the 60s.

Sitting here watching Videos of the original Classic Rock Allstars and decided to finally leave a tribute to Jerry.
I met Jerry Corbetta in 2008 in Duluth, MN. He was playing a show with the CRA (I had seen them back in 1995 as well). I spoke with him at some length about his musical legacy and we agreed to keep in contact. A few months later I called him up and discussed a possible video documentary on Sugarloaf. He gave me names and numbers of the other Sugarloaf band members. I spoke to a couple of them over the course of weeks/months. Unfortunately, that documentary never got made. By the time I had the resources to produce such a project, Jerry had left CRA and I was made aware of his illness.
What can I say? Jerry was a gifted singer, songwriter and musician. He was also a really nice, wonderful human being.
He lives on through his music...” Strolling slowly towards the sun”
God Bless you Jerry.

Thank you so very much for the wonderful Sugarloaf recordings "Green Eyed Lady" and "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You," Jerry. I enjoyed these records tremendously listening to them in the 1970's. You may no longer be with us, but the recordings of your music will live on forever for us to cherish and enjoy. R.I.P.

Jerry was one of the nicest people I ever met, funny, kind, and amazingly talented. I met Jerry in natural childbirth class 1989 when he and his then wife, Cassie, were expecting Kyle. After the babies were born Jerry and his wife came to the class reunion we gave at our home. Jerry sat down at our piano and began playing. I told him he was so good he should change careers and be a musician. He then told me he had been playing professionally since he was three. It was one of those funny moments when both of you laugh. I am an ignoramus on popular music.
Then Jerry and I went through divorces at the same time and we started talking on the phone.
Over those next years we learned a lot about each other. Jerry had produced a song for us in 1992, loaned me his camera for a video I made. I was hoping to catch up on his news when I went looking for him. M
I'll be missing you for the rest of my life, Jerry. You were a special blessing.

I am saddened to hear of Jerry's passing. Though I was a big fan of "Green Eyed Lady," I met him only once when the Classic Rock All-Stars headlined Frisco, Colorado's Music on Main Street, an event I helped stage in the mid-90s. It was a tremendous show and Jerry shined on stage alongside his then-bandmates, including Spencer Davis and Peter Rivera. Jerry was kind and gracious, posing for photos and signing autographs. RIP, Jerry Corbetta; sing and play on in Heaven's all-star band!

Omg! I am so deeply sorry! I did not know Jerry passed away. I don't know how I missed it. I knew he was ill. I'm sad! I hope and pray he was saved, that he knew Jesus as his Lord and savior. I had hoped to find Jerry about 6 months ago to go visit him. He and Sugarloaf came to Cheyenne, Wyoming in the early 1970's. He was totally awesome. I have always loved the song Green Eyed Lady, it's timeless. Sugarloaf and Jerry made my teen years the best. I love him for that. I knew him. My deepest condolences to his family. Where is he buried at? I would like to go take some flowers if you don't mind. Please! I've known so many famous band members. He is the third one I know to pass away. So sorry! Please reply to DMLeach on FB. Thank you. God bless you. May my friend Jerry RIP

I met Jerry and became friends when I joined Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons,in 1981,,and remained friends and managed to see him several times over the years after he left Frankie when he was with the RocknRoll Allstars, with Peter Rivera and the guys...Jerry was one of the kindest ,sweetest guys I have ever known and was like a big brother to me,even though our ages were pretty close. he had already been in the music business many years when we met,and his advice and guidance were always appreciated...he was also one of the funniest guys I ever worked with..my memories of Jerry are all good and it was and honor and a privelage to know him and to work with him. my condolences to all and praise to a life well lived..chuck wilson

Jerry was not only a great musician, but an all-around good guy. I had spoken with his sister a little over a year ago and knew his passing would be unavoidable, but it is still sad none the less. What a loss for Colorado music.
I watched and learned from Jerry since his early days in the "Half Doesn't," and later Chocolate Hair and Sugarloaf. Jerry always had time to mentor or just plain entertain us younger local musicians who all looked up to him. Jerry was the ultimate pro.
One night my band was eating at the Satire on Colfax after rehearsal when Jerry walked in and sat down. He asked us if we were doing anything that night, took us out to Applewood Studio in Golden, and had us sing backup vocals on 2 or 3 songs. One of those songs was "Don't Call Us." About a month later we heard in on the radio in my car. I'll never forget that feeling, and we owed it all to Jerry.
But that was Jerry, always generous and selflessly reaching out to help local guys. Ask any musician in Colorado - Jerry was a legend - and a good guy to know. We will all miss him very much. This has been a sad year, as we have lost Bob Yeazel and Bob Raymond as well.
Condolences to all of Jerry's friends, co-musicians, his family, especially his sister Barbara who was there for him all the way. Jerry, rest in peace. The band upstairs keeps getting better every day, and now Jerry is whipping them into shape.
RIP Jerry - you were the best.

Dear Kyle Barbara and the entire Corbetta family,
My deepest condolences to you all. Jerry was such a special part of my life as well as many. It is through Jerry that I met Dennis. Jerry was best man in our wedding, attended many holiday and functions, at our home, with family and friends. We considered Jerry a part of our family, in addition to the Classic Rock AllStar family. He told so many wonderful stories about his inspiration for writing Green Eyed Lady, his time with Sugarloaf, Frankie, his family, life on the road, beliefs, ideas, and so much more . Jerry was a wonderful man who led an incredible life and Was fortunate to spend his life doing what he loved and at the same time, bringing joy to others. Iam so thankful I was able to see him the week before he left us to begin his new journey. It was hard to see him in his state, but feel blessed to tell him how loved he is. I trust he and Dennis have begun working on their next Heavanly gig. The world has lost a great soul and talent. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of sorrow. I truly believe he is in a better place.

Hello, cousin,
The legacy you have left is profound, Jerry, and the music industry is surely feeling the void of your loss which is the world's loss. Whether you were on the stage or in the background directing or creating music, you had a visible impact. How glorious it is that you are respected by so many folks from one end of the globe to the other. Your legacy will remain strong and glowing since you've left us with such wonderful memories and beautiful music. Your family celebrated your success with such gusto, and Barb has continued to celebrate your life nurturing you through your illness. When I was young, I couldn't wait coming to your house and being with Uncle Jimmy, Aunt Pat, Nancy, Barb, and you as you entertained me with a variety of musical instruments. It was magical being in 'The House of Music!' And, thanks for always making me feel like the starlet when I came to watch you perform at all the 3.2 clubs with my CU friends. Rest peacefully in Heaven, dear cousin, and get those talented keyboard fingers playing once again.
Love, Dianne Corbetta Connolly

Years ago, in the 60s, Jerry and I became friends, as he was playing drums with a local group called the McCoys. Jerry and I had identical Premier drum sets; his was turquoise and mine was gold. We hit it off immediately. Many times we'd meet up, after gigs, at Jim Sanos restaurant, to go over music. Almost from the get go, he expressed his desire to play keyboards. Boy was I surprised.
As time went on we spent more time together, I had a new band called the Galaxies, just teaching myself to play. My band was wanting a keyboard player, Jerry was working so he gave me Danny Smyth's phone number.
Moving forward in time, Jerry soon started playing his keyboards with various local bands, as did I on the drums...again, being fortunate enough, for both of us, to play with some of the best.
One day, Jerry and Bob Webber asked if I would join them and Bob Raymond, in a new group they were putting together; Chocolate Hair was the name. What an opportunity they presented to me. Here I was playing with people that I had looked up to for so many years; Bob Webber from the Moonrakers, Bob Raymond from the Soul Survivors and Jerry, the most talented overall musician of us all.
For me to share a stage with these men was certainly a blessing. I had the best seat in the house, listening to the best 'jam band." What came off that stage was magic.
That experience made me a much better drummer. The mentoring, from Jerry, during studio times was invaluable.
When Bob Webber, called me years later, letting me know we were to be inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, words couldn't express how I felt at this news. After all of these years, to be sharing a stage with these wonderful musicians, once again, was the ultimate of ones music career.
At this point, Jerry was already suffering from his illness. Gloria and I would periodically go to visit and take him for ice cream. (We both loved our ice cream!) When we would talk about our music past, you would never know anything was wrong.
My heart would break for him and his sister Barbara, who shouldered the entire situation, without complaint. She was taking care of her little brother.
When Jerry took that stage, at the Boulder Theater, magic of the likes you will never experience in a lifetime, occurred. We could hardly hold our excitement. What a time and what wonderful memories.
To Jerry, my long time friend and band-mate; I will miss you, but I will never forget you.
Rest in peace....Heaven will only have more beautiful music,
Myron

September 18, 2016
My name is Bob Webber, I co-founded Sugarloaf with Jerry Corbetta. My wife, son, and I were living on Sugarloaf mountain outside of Boulder in the summer of '68 when Jerry Corbetta came to visit and talk about starting a new band. Jerry and I were in the Moonrakers at the time where he played drums since Dennis Flannigan already had keys covered. Jerry wanted to return to the keyboards again so we came up with the idea of a four piece group that we whimsically called Chocolate Hair. Jerry was on keys, I was on guitar, Bob Raymond from the Beggars Opera Company on bass, and Myron Pollock from Superband on drums.
Chocolate Hair played steady gigs, four and five nights a week, at a number of local bars and nightclubs in Denver, Colorado Springs, Boulder, and Fort Collins. The tunes we played were mostly covers of album cuts by Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Traffic, Cream and others. Our trademark arrangements were jams that we spawned out of the tunes that we were covering. It was common to drive a heavy jam for 6 minutes or more in each song. Our chops were untouchable and we were so familiar with each other's musical vocabulary that we created melodies, chord progressions, and arrangements on the fly. Jerry and I trading hot riffs back and forth, all of us following Jerry's lead on an organ solo into unknown territory of rhythmic and harmonic experimentation, Myron taking an epic drum solo that had never been rehearsed, and Bob Raymond driving the bass lines with power and precision - unbelievable stuff that became the core of Sugarloaf's records and concert performances in the following years.
The name change to Sugarloaf, the personnel changes, the hit albums and singles, concert tours, and TV are well documented in numerous print and online media sources so I won't retell that story. The band broke up in '75 but Myron and I were invited to play on Jerry's solo album in '78. Jerry's songwriting, playing, and singing were probably at their best levels ever. The arrangements were lush and the performances by each of the players on the album were as good as it gets. Warner Brothers - the label for that album - came up short on promotion and the album was never as successful as Sugarloaf.
After Jerry's solo album we all went our separate ways. Myron rejoined Jerry for a reunion in the '80s but I was involved in the Aerospace industry as an engineer so I passed on the reunion. All was quiet for years, then in March of 2012 we were contacted by G. Brown to be a part of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame Sugarloaf Induction Event. Everyone that had been in the performing Sugarloaf band was in attendance for the induction concert. Jerry was spectacular in an emotional organ solo on "Tongue in Cheek" which was the only tune he performed that night since his health was already affected.
While rehearsing for the show in the weeks before the induction I went to visit Jerry. I brought my guitar and he had his keyboard in his apartment. We played "Green Eyed Lady" and "Don't Call Us" - the magic was still there, it was like time had stood still and we were still in the band together. All the chops, the rhythmic feel, everything was there just like the records. We still knew each other's musical vocabulary and we were communicating in that subliminal, primal interaction that defines music. I will always be in awe of Jerry's talent and that final rehearsal is the memory of him that I will treasure.

dear corbetta family-
I am deeply saddened by the passing of such a fine gentleman such as your father, brother, and uncle.
I was very fortunate to have seen him play with the all stars at fiddler's green, and got to meet him too. he was one of the NICEST man I ever met. he didn't blow us fans off with an autograph, and handshake. he SPOKE to us and answered all questions. and as a fellow conservative, he let me in on a political discussion with another fan. I remember paring with him, and him saying how great it was to talk to ME, of all things.
may he rest now after his ordeals on earth, and watch and guide his loved ones.
with condolences, but a sense of thanks to have met such a great man. may you find peace in your memories. he definitely came across as not a "don't call me, i'll call you " man.
sincerely, bob self
