On June 28, 1989 as a young doctor in town, I delivered Amanda at Coral Springs Medical center. A beautiful baby, she was. Jerry, kindly but forcefully asked to speak to me privately. He told me what a special day this was and how important i was in his life. Then he put a 100$ bill in my pocket and told me to take my wife for a good Italian meal. When I told him I could not accept it, he made it very clear, that was not an option. I still remember the meal and will never forget Jerry´s strength , compassion and kindness. May his memory be a blessing. Bruce Zafran, MD

To My Dearest Father
I can´t believe it´s been ten years since your passing. They say time heals all wounds but it been very hard living without you here. I think of you everyday not only with tears but with such pride for having a father like you. I´ve always been so proud to be your daughter. The love you always showed me was the best feeling a daughter could have. I only hope you can see how much we all miss you. Your Granddaughters speak of you all the time as do I and Josh. It´s funny how we haven´t seen you but yet your presence is still very much alive. All who remember you have only the best things to say about you. You were such a good man while you were here. I´d imagine you´re an angel now. Please keep watching over me and our family. Words can´t express the loss I feel to this day. I will continue to try to live my best life. I know that´s all you ever wanted from me. As you said before you left " have lots of parties and don´t cry for me. You´ll be happy to know the family is getting together for dinner in your honor tonight. I will be in church lighting a candle for you and hoping you and Mommy are together. Today is her birthday she would have been 89. Rest in Peace my wonderful father and know you are loved and greatly missed

My Dearest Father
Today has been 2 years since I saw your handsome face. The loss that I feel for you is never ending. There is not a day that goes by without myself your son in law Josh and your granddaughters Amanda and Olivia don't speak of you and how much we miss you. I was always so proud to be your daughter and only child. You lived a life of honor and love and generosity like no other person I know. As time goes by I realize how lucky I am to have had a father who loved me with all of his heart. You called me the love of your life and your pride and joy. I can still hear your voice and picture your face as if I saw you yesterday. Your unconditional love for me will always be in my heart. I will make it my duty to keep your memory alive for the new members of your family. Great Grandchildren in the future and everyone who knows me. Rest in Peace my wonderful, handsome, Italian father. I know you will always be my guardian angel. Until we see each other again, please watch over all of us.

It is so hard to believe it's been almost 2 years since Jerry passed away. I can't say gone because almost every conversation I have with Gerriann is about her father so he is very much alive in our hearts. Jerry was a special man who loved his family beyond words. He always had a kind word for me and definitely a lot of laughs. He was kind and generous, a true gentleman. To say his presence on this earth is missed is an understatement. God Bless you and continue to keep you close to him Jerry Manno. Xoxo.

Jerry,
I am honored and privileged that I had the opportunity to meet you. I am even more honored that not only did you accept me into your family, but with your warmth and good nature you made me feel as though I had known you for years. You told me to "take care of your grand-daughter" and my goal in life is to take care of her as well as you did and live up to your expectations. Amanda misses you everyday and even though i only knew you a short time, I do too. You made everyone you came in contact with happy. You made everyone you came in contact with better. Your legacy will live on through your friends and family and all the lives you touched with your kindness. I know you will be sharing a cordial with my grandmother in heaven on Amanda and my wedding day. Hope you have your dancing shoes ready. Rest blissfully.
Love,
Dan

Jerry Manno was one of a kind, the ultimate gentleman who loved his family, his job and life. What a pleasure it was to see him anytime. No matter what he was doing he always stopped and went out of his way to say hello. He welcomed you as if you were a dignitary. He was kind, generous, funny, a sergeant, a businessman, a Father, but a gentleman first. Jerry, your family misses you, I miss you and everybody who knew you misses you. How could we not? As the years pass it does not make it any easier. The world is worse off now that you are not here with us.

An ode to Jerry.
To Jerry, who was a kind man.He is bedazzled and coiffed. His every hair in place. He is groomed and polished. He is beautifully turned out . There beneath the strong and radiant presence is a gentle soul. He greets me with a warm heart . He is caring and sweet, always a gesture of good will toward myself and my children when we enter the room. He's got charisma and charm and stands tall. His black hair perfect and glowing. The gleam in his eye can stare you down but in fact it is warm and loving. That is how he will be remembered by those who loved him well. A man of honor, a man of grace, a man with guts, but mostly, a man who knew how to love and be loved. And that has made all the difference.

Dear Pop, you were the best father-in-law a guy could ever hope for. You always treated me like your own son and I will never forget that. I will miss seeing you very much, but I know that you will still be watching over all of us for the rest of our lives. You were the most selfless man I have ever met. Always putting everyone else's happiness ahead of your own. You were truly one of a kind. I was always very proud of your 50 years of service to your country and your communities and I was always so proud to speak of you as Captain Manno. Pop, I will always keep my memories of you close in my mind and my heart. Giacinto, you will never be forgotten! Your son, Josh

My grandfather was one of a kind. He was so loving and so protective over everyone he loved. Nothing was more important to him than his family. He was the most generous man, the type of person to give you the shirt off his back if it meant bringing a smile to your face. To lose an man like him is heartbreaking. I miss him everyday and always think about him. Not a day goes by that I don't speak to him and tell him how much I love him and miss him being around.
The memories I have with him will carry on and be told forever and I'm blessed to have had him in my life for 25 years.
I still remember the days he would drop me off at elementary school in his police uniform; just to come right back to bring my class donuts.
Memories of sitting in the car as he would give me driving lessons. He being there during my high school graduation and the day he met my future husband. How I wish he could be there to see me walk down the aisle, but I know that he is always there and looking down on me and protecting me from heaven.
The last time I spoke with him was a day before he passed and he asked me "Amanda, are you happy?"
I replied "of course, Popop, I am very happy"
And he responded "good, that's all I needed to hear."
Looking back on that last conversation, I knew that was what he needed to hear before leaving.
Knowing that his family was happy and doing ok was all he cared about. He put other and their happiness before his because that is what made him happy; making his family happy was his life purpose.
I wish he was around forever, but I know in my heart, he never left.
Popop- I will ways love you and miss you with all my heart. I will always pray to you and talk about you and all the memories we shared as a family. Your name will never be unspoken. I will carry on your legacy to my future children and grandchildren. You will truly never be forgotten.
I love you with all my heart and soul.
-Your granddaughter, Amanda

I would like to extend my condolences to the entire Manno family. I will always remember Jerry as a true and honorable man. I never heard anyone say a bad word about Jerry.
I first met him when I was working security and needed something for work. I came to Manno Uniforms for work gear because I knew I would be treated well by him and Ruth. I continued coming there as a police officer.
Jerry Manno you will always be remembered by those that had the honor of meeting you and getting to know you. Rest in peace brother.

Gerriann, Ruthie and Family. Please accept my deepest sympathy in your time of sorrow. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. My brother (Mike Homer) and I were regular fixtures at Manno's Uniforms back in the day when we owned Maximum Security. I will always remember being greeted, as friends, by Jerry and Ruthie. There was no such thing as a short visit; we would always engage in conversation about business, police work or the family. At 18, as a security guard, I always looked up to your Jerry when he stopped by the uniform store in his police uniform; he always looked and acted like a true professional. Eventually when I became a cop, I would reflect back on those days with a smile. Jerry will be sadly missed. God Bless.

I am very sorry for your loss. I am sending prayers to you and your family and to you especially for the comfort of knowing that although I haven't spoken or seen you in 32 years, I remember that our grandmothers were friends at a senior center in Queens, NY. To all who have expressed their fondness of my father, I say Thank You. For those who know me and my family I'm sure you can understand the tremendous sadness that I am feeling. He was very special to me and showed his love every time we were together. He felt the love of a son from my dear husband Josh. His grandchildren Amanda and Olivia were the light of his life. I will hold him in my heart forever. Until we meet again in heaven. Rest in peace my wonderful Daddy. Always, Gerriann

My Sincere Condolences to Ruthie and Gerriann during this loss. As a 15 year old kid in North Lauderdale I was blessed to meet Officer Manno, who allowed me to sit in his patrol car during a cold morning waiting for a school bus. He convinced me to join the police cadets, and within weeks I was on a bus going on a Disney Trip with little Gerriann and Darlene Boytell and some of the greatest kids that Jerry brought together and truly cared about. From there, I became a cop thanks to Jerry, and no doubt he shaped my career to this day. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have met Jerry, worked with and for him and so glad I had the opportunity to see him this past December. I true COPS, Cop. Until we meet again Jerry, Rest in Peace my dear Mentor and Friend..
