Jerry C. McNew Sr. CHILHOWIE, Va. Jerry C. McNew Sr., age 64, passed away at his home Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011. He was a member of Chilhowie Christian Church, an employee of General Dynamics and former employee of Westinghouse. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, G.R. and Myrtle Routh McNew and a sister, Wanda Jackson. He is survived by wife, Lena McNew; four children and grandchildren, Jerry McNew and wife, Jenn, Harley and April of Glade Spring, Missie Polinski and husband, Eric, Quentin and Ethan of Kingsport, Tenn., Joseph Whitt and wife, Elise, Levi, Luke and Noah of Mississippi, Natasha Abernathy and husband, James, James and Jacob of Crew, Va.; three brothers, Ricky McNew and wife, Beth, of Marion, Robert McNew and wife, Sharon, of Saltville, Ronny McNew and wife, Carmelle, of Saltville; five sisters, Jean Doane, Ellen Frye, Retta Whitehead and husband, Gilbert, all of Saltville, Teresa Surber and husband, Richard, and Debbie Poston and husband, Bob, all of Chilhowie; mother-in-law, Betty Meadows of Chilhowie; sisters and brothers-in-law; Wilma and Denny, Lynn and Jerry, Lori and Roy, Leigh and Shot, Clifford and Sandy, Kenny and Marcy, and Joanie and Dale; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Chilhowie Christian Church with the Rev. Frank Branson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Rose Cemetery.
