Jerry Roetting jr. Obituary

For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Joe leaves behind his loving parents: Janet and Jerry, sister: Debbie McDaniel(Jim), nieces: Abbie Kaufman(Stephen) Maddie McDaniel, mother of his sons: Mary Roetting, his grandson: Benjamin and his three sons: Nathanael, Christopher (Allie) and Joseph Roetting, to spread the love, joy and kindness he spent his life spreading amongst those whose lives he touched.

Joe loved spending time with his boys, whether it be: fishing in Canada, shooting sporting clays or slinging endless lead and brass down range. Joe fervently loved holding his grandson Benjamin and watching him smile and laugh. He couldn't miss a chance to pick a playful fight with anyone who would listen. You could hear his voice steadily raise with his excited laughter as his line got tighter whilst reeling you in for his trap. Joe greatly looked forward to our yearly trip to hocking hills; not for the views and hikes but for the people we got to spend it with; the jokes everyone would tell, the water balloon fights, picking on the kids, playing buzz laughing at the ruthless girls singing "bye bye." Or any chance he'd get to pull out his telescope and peer into the heavens; only ever finding andromeda once. He was so proud even though it looked like a smudge on the lens. I like to think he was fascinated with the stars because he knew one day he'd spend eternity among them.

Even though he will be missed so dearly by those who love him, he was truly "a man after God's own heart," knowing that Jesus came to save sinners, and he was one of them. Joe carried such grace knowing that only by his faith in Jesus, the son of God in flesh, who gave his life for our debt (a debt that we could not hope to pay ourselves), would he remain unblemished in God's eyes. Joe was therefore excited to spend eternity in his Father's house.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

"If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable." 1 Corinthians15;19
Joe knew that his hope was in Jesus gift of eternal life thru His payment for our sins on the cross! Praying for peace for all until we see each other in heaven!
