Jerry Lynn Stout, 72, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his family on October 12th, 2021. He was born October 1st 1949 in Surry County to the late John Rufus Stout and Ividell Pardue Stout. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Ann McGrady and brother Joel Carlyle.
Mr. Stout was loved by all who knew him. He loved a good meal, belly laughs, and never missed an opportunity to spend time outdoors. He was a self-employed carpenter but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and his faithful companion, Tessa May. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Jurney Stout, of 51 years; and children: Ginger (Tracy) Thomasson, April Stout and Brian Jeremiah Stout. Mr. Stout was a proud grandfather to Blake Thomasson, Brandon Thomasson, Brett (Summer) Thomasson, Harley Stout, Dreyden Stephens and Abbi Stout. He is also survived by his brother Jeffrey (Martha) Stout.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the EMS team and Neuro ICU care team of Novant Health for their diligent care and loving support.
The family will receive friends at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville on Friday October 15th from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held Saturday October 16th at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Hamptonville. The service will be officiated by Reverend Bobby Lyles and Pastor Monty Harris. Mr. Stout will lie-in-state at the church from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mr. Stout’s honor to Mikey’s Chance, an animal rescue that gives priority to ensuring the best possible match between dogs in need and their forever families. So sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I was in school with him at W.Y. and Starmount. He was very pleasant to be around but most of all....kind. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time.

Jerry was an easy going brother in law and loved to make people laugh. All of our lives were made richer by knowing him. Heaven just received another special person and I know you are smiling and loving our loved ones who have gone before us. We love you and miss you.
